WITHOUT mentioning who won this morning, could somebody let me know the grid positions for the start of the race?

I'm on holiday and missing my F1 channel with live coverage - struggling to wait until 2pm when I get to see highlights with the annoyance that is Suzi Perry!

I think that was it! Close, anyway. McLarens were way, way off the pace.

As for Perry, I quite like her! Particularly once she gets used to the role and lightens up a bit.

I do like F1, there's just not the action there was, definitely something missing, all the tinkering with the regs doesn't help, it just makes teams try and circumvent them and has stifled originality.
Teams should be given much more scope to develop new technologies, yes we have to have safety but why have the regs become so rigid that every car has to basically the same, anything original is outlawed as it falls outside of the rule book.

It's not sad or naff, it just needs its sparkle back, qualifying is better than the race itself.

We've even got to the point where they're introducing artificial aids to try to promote overtaking (DRS and KERS).

There are two basic reasons for the level of regulation - safety and cost. The expenditure of the biggest teams was getting out of hand, and effectively meant that the smaller teams couldn't compete, and even the major sponsors were put off by the cost of sponsoring a competitive team. And then the speed of the cars was getting much too high for safety on all but the most modern purpose-built tracks.

It's difficult to know what to do. A full budget cap has been proposed (there's a sort-of cap now), but it would be all but impossible to police effectively. If it could be made to work it could be the way to go though - you have £100M, say, to do with whatever you like. With some rules, still, obviously - laser guided missiles to take out the competition would be spectacular but not very sporting.

I still watch F1 hoping for some exciting racing, but it rarely happens.

Yep, bring back the days when we had real innovation (six-wheelers, fan cars, active suspension, ABS brakes started in F1, etc) and Mansell dicing wheel-to-wheel with Piquet! Or, how about we do away with the drivers (over-paid and immature, anyway!) and make the cars self-driving? That should ensure really spectacular racing for a few seasons at least. And without a driver to worry about we really could replace DRS with guided missiles

Still have a little interest in Formula One but its lost a lot to what it had, Bernie has a lot to answer for, he hates Silverstone and looks for a reason to take F1 away from the UK, which is odd as most of the Teams are based here. The days of Mansell, Piquet, Senna, and the like have long gone much to the loss of F1.

All of Bernies bungs come from rich overseas people, the teams will all follow soon after leaving nothing here.

It's all about the rich and super rich, ordinary fans will get there token races to pay for it all, these races will be the city ones, that are springing up, the real races will be huge corporate hospitality events at the new tracks, UK offers nothing new, heritage counts for nothing these days. The UK has many claims to be " the home of" but rarely has the best facilities or tournaments anymore.
