I know a very good solicitor and must admit I initially gawped at the cost of services.

However, when you look at what goes into the whole thing (a proper solicitor, not a legal executive) then you can see where the money goes, along with all the courses that they have to go on, all the regulatory bodies that need funding by being members of them...

Plus on certain services a judge is allowed to rule whether they think the costs are fair.

Besides, the last time I went for a decent swill on the town I came back £75 quid lighter, all of a sudden they don't sound like such bad value! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

When I was buying my house the solicitor sent me a letter everyday and charged £5 for it, most said "Just to let you know nothing has happened yet" except my bill is going up. Laughing

A friend had the same thing, when he was getting a divorce, his solicitor would send a letter and the other solicitor would reply back saying they had received it, his solicitor would then write to him to say they had received a letter to say that they had received a confirmation letter and enclose a £25 invoice Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I've just bought a house and used a solicitor.
We corresponded entirely by email; no charges for letters.

It's easy to see why solicitors charges are so high, just take a look at their houses and what's parked in the drive Big Cry Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
