Australia 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 S Auto Indus Silver
DPF

Just bought a 2013 Freelander and after 1000 klms absolutely love it, can anyone confirm that the Australian model has a DPF. Mine has a sooty reside in the exhaust pipe which makes me think there is no DPF

I think you're correct, soot = no DPF. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

His 'mouse over' car says it's a TD4 S, so assuming it is and us not knowing Australian import car laws, I would think a Dealer phone call might be best or if you are familiar with the mechanics have a look underneath and look for two boxes, if 4 and 10 are there you have a Catalyser and DPF but if it's only an exhaust pipe going up to the Catalyser (4) then no.

I couldn't mouse over on my phone but that question did sound a bit dim!

Would say you won't have one considering there is a residue in there. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Thanks fellas , i will crawl under and take a look.
I ask the question as the exhaust colors up a little under acceleration which i didn't think would happen if a DPF was fitted.
And yes it is a diesel.

Thanks for your most informative diagram, I only have 4 Catalyser number 10 is not present which I suspect is the DPF.
Me thinks this good and explains the colored exhaust discharge.Probably not good for the environment but one less component to go pear shaped.
Where did you get your diagram, I have tried to locate a comprehensive Workshop manual for the Freelander without success.

It's actually better for the environment not having one Thumbs Up

Although enough people have heard me rant about it on here so won't bother again Laughing Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
