i've had a pair of Lowa's. They're really good boots, and they last and last. Keep, them polished and they'll be fine. easy to get resoled as well. |

Altberg fitted mine very carefully at the factory, it is very important what you have said, buying online with that sort of product is fraught with pain later on.

http://www.altberg.co.uk/product/sneeker-aqua-black_police/ Quite like the look of these, and the factory made to measure option sounds perfect ad not too far away at Richmond too What do you mean lower my voice, are you saying I'm loud or something Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

If I was buying a new pair again, I would actually look at Altberg. Squaddies will give boots a good workout, and if they're buying them, they must be good. Boots have come a long way since I was issued with my DMS patterns in the early 80's. They were awful. |

I spend a huge amount of time outdoors in all conditions. I'm not sure if you are only considering a full leather boot but if you are flexible I would take a look at salomon quest 4d's. You can wear them straight out of the box, they weigh next to nothing, support the ankle superbly and have proved hard wearing and totally waterproof. US special forces wear them so I think that says it all. I have a pair of salomon cosmic 4d's too but they are not as durable as the quests. I agree with one of the early posts-you really do need to try the boot on before buying. Salomon for example fit one size too small, Asolo tend to be narrower than other boots, Scarpa can make a mess of your achilles for certain foot shapes due to the shape of their heel cup etc etc. |
