the cars automatically pauses for the glow plugs to do their thing, so there is no need to half turn the key, as such

Welcome Fanman,i think I'm right in saying on the Freelander when engine start is pressed its all automatic,if glow plugs need warming the engine waits until ready before starting,only a second or two but it sorts its self out.

You should notice though about a 1-2 second delay from pressing the button to cranking at 0 to -1 degrees while the glowplugs do their job unless the delay operates differently with the new keyless.
