Road fund licence due

...

My tax disc is due to be renewed end March. I would have expected the standard reminder from DVLA by now... anyone else with road tax due end Mar? Received the reminder yet?

I'm pretty sure I've normally had it by now since I get paid on 6th of the month and usually pay it right after that...

Not March but mine ran out the end of February and my reminder arrived the second week in Feb, I guarantee you will receive it in the next few days.

Hi,

Just been informed by my dealer that all tax disc's will cease to be issued within the year!.. Makes sense I guess, with the number plate recognition the police now have on all patrol cars, they can check on tax, MOT and insurance instantly.

And we have never had to display proof of insurance, have we (more's the pity)

I guess (hope) we still get the annual reminders though Kola is the big solid black German Shepherd, Dobbie is.......a breed you've never heard of......yet;)

As most dealers speak with a forked tongue I wouldn't take that as gospel yet.

It was talked about in December of last year as a 'maybe' because number plate 'recognition' cameras can now see instantly your documents regarding your car, so a big money saver but no official statement has been issued as far as I know.

It is a little outdated now but how would I know to report the 'scrote' down my street that has a paper disc months out of date when the information is only privy to the authorities.

God help us all when the database is wrong or not upto date.
They can't even get the existing Motor Insurers Database consistently correct.

I do worry that motorists will be at the mercy of some faceless process when things go wrong.

Already had that, my motorbike was showing up as no insurance, had to make two court appearances before it was sorted out.

Re Kola's Kab's comment re the paper tax disc as far as I am aware it will be phased out in 2015. Unfortunately we still have to pay the duty! Sad

No, as I said it was last talked about in December of last year, all links I have read says it could happen
I want to see a link where it's stated it is going to happen in 2015 as IanH said. Thumbs Up
