had a lift yesterday in a new Kia Sportage, it was not a bad place to be inside, but comfort wise it felt every little bump and weaved along any deviation in the road, not a nice ride at all Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

I would like to replace my FL2 with another one just the same as it has been excellent - but when I look at the replacement model it is stuffed with more electronic junk - keyless entry, an electric handbrake and stop start. By way of comparison I had a play in a new model Honda CRV. Honda is a company who excel in all types of engineering and electronics but they also know a few things which Landrover are clueless about - in particular long term reliability and low cost of ownership out of warranty and low days off the road. So the very latest model CRV comes with simple and reliable manual handbrake, and an ordinary simple ignition key and no stop start junk. Hence we can be sure that the Honda CRV will stay cheap to run once it is outside warranty. Can Landrover convince me that these elctronic toys will be cheap to maintain? Hmmm.

Agree with Pinks, unfortunately you do get 'friday afternoon' cars still, even from the germans.

Sorry to hear that you've had enough. Living in the area I'd be interested to hear which dealer you have had all of the problems with...

I really enjoyed owning my fl2 but the new one hasn't changed enough from my old one to justify handing over so much cash! so i changed mine for a 61 plate Black Mitsubishi Shogun LWB 3.2 auto in January and am very happy with it, and while its not quite as refined as a landrover where on road handling is concerned, it feels very solid and is very well spec'd, it is a bit bigger and thirstier, but has a towing capacity of 3.5T if needed, also has manually controlled diff locks and low range. |

me being tight ha ha! I like the disco alot and have driven disco 3 and 4's alot but i'm not really fussed about refinement, i just wanted a decent size reliable and capable strong 4x4, and the equivalent age and spec disco would have meant me digging a few Łk deeper into my wallet! Although the Shogun seems to fair slightly better than the disco regarding reliability, i certainly wasn't put off the disco, the Shogun just suits my needs better. I definitely wouldn't rule Land rover out when i'm looking for my next car because the FL2 was excellent, and would recommend one to anyone wanting a med - large premium 4x4. |
