MPG when New

Hi Guys Very Happy

What MPG has people been getting from their 2.2GS's

Mine has 700 miles on it and i cannot get my MPG past 28 no matter how i drive Big Cry

Is this right, will it get better the older it gets? Or should i take it back the the stealer

Cheers

I average 34 in my Manual on mixture of rural and town driving - short trips such as school run are killers drops nearer 30.

On a longer run I have had 37-38 average.

28 sounds bad - might be worth checking with dealer.

Hi Mad Dog

I would hold off a bit on the a dealer trip, just in case it's a running in thing. Most new cars I have had seem to improve after running in, but that is normally quoted at 1000km (620 miles), but then again they where germans Wink

Chris.

Mentioned this before but if you are using computer to determine mpg do a test on fill-up to fill-up against your computer - mine under reports by nearly 20%

ooh 28 - if only.
Ours stubbornly reports 22mpg and I was concerned we had a fault.
So, I reset ours and took it out for the afternoon myself. I was able to get 38-45 quite happily but 2 days later and the Mrs has it back to 22 Sad 07 Freelander 2 TD4SE Tambora Flame, side steps, privacy glass, mud flaps, boot liner and a tow bar. Ok it's the Wifes but she lets me drive it occasionally - if I've been good!

reset it

Mad-dog, As your FL2 is very new, I suggest you reset the computer to start calculating the averages all over again. You may be averaging some very low mpgs when it was brand new etc.

I find the computer version of mpg is pretty accurate most of the time, within 0.5 mpg of my fuel consumption spreadsheet version! Life is not a dress rehearsal!

I've found the computer to quite accurate against manual calculation. When new, I was getting ~29mpg, but now after 1000 miles, I'm up to ~34mpg. Phil

My mpg has max'd out at 37mpg. I've never managed more than that and I drive like miss daisy these days.

With the price of fuel where it is I'm scouring ebay for a cheap vespa for my shorter work runs!! Thumbs Up

My auto has averaged 29.5 (trip comp) over 430 miles, it got up to 29.0 at about 300 miles, so is improving and a few longer runs will soon have her over 30. It was 11.5 at pick-up when I first checked. Hope to beat the book figure eventually! Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

Forgot about the aircon. Mine is always on and is set to auto, so I'll probably pay for that at the pumps, but I'll still keep it on. Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

I'm sure there is a theorectical price to be paid for using the aircon, but I'm very sceptical that using it makes "that" much difference. First of all aircon provides an essential comfort element in any journey, no point in having it and not using it.

My motor has 35k miles on the clock (and a fully documented fuel economy of 37.2 mpg over those miles) using aircon what a cool motor !!!

I have covered 1100 miles from new and have not reset the computer since I left the dealers.About 300 miles have been on the motorway and the rest A and B roads and my average is 36.9 mpg.
I think this is really good for a new engine.I checked the mileage against actual fuel used and it worked out to 36.5 mpg.so very accurate.I like my new Freelander 2!!!!!!! FL2 TD4 HSE Manual.2008.
