The glovebox doesn't lock as far as I'm aware! Could something be jammed inside stopping it from opening?

This picture is of a LHD model, the damper (buffer) will be on the left in your case, maybe something is stuck in the catch? I have had a look at mine and it cant really jam from anything in there?

Many thanks for the tips, I had not realised it wasn't lockable. Something must be jammed as I still can't open it, even a heavy fist on the door won't shift it. Any more tips? |

Try pressing the top of the door against the clip (as if closing, this should "unload" the unwanted contact with the fixed part of the dash) while grabbing the bottom of the door with the palm of your hand on the main part of the door. Now "shake" with your bottom hand to try and rattle the things inside around a bit - not just a one-off hit.

Im wondering if it isn't something lodged in the box but the actual catch on the lid that has failed. |
