I will be very interested to see what MPG is when towing. My HSE Auto is averaging about 25-30 solo. I have towed once with it and was very impressed with it, my old model TD4 Auto would run out of puff at 60 mph, this new one just keeps going. For information the trailer is a twin axle caravan weighing in at 1.5 tonnes. |

Our van is 1450 kg but there are only two of us If you take into account two extra passengers(kids) and all there stuff you probably are towing a fair bit more than us |

I was talking to a person who had a FL1 auto and he said he only got 26mpg. But I wouldn't be too concerned about your mpg as we cannot compare like for like. e.g. Some of us get caught up in road congestion more than others because of where we live. Some live high up in the hills, hence using more fuel to get home. Some do longer journeys so the engine is at the correct temperature longer. Some carry heavier weights in their cars hence using more fuel.

When mine was new I think I only got about 22 towing, that is now around 27/28, towing a 1500 kg max weight van. |

Solo, TD4 was getting 35 mpg on Saturday, this was with some stop and start. 2000 revs at 70mph. I noted that when able to change up to 6th gear and with cruise control, distance of 'range' increased. I tend to have the 'range' display, but will switch to mpg when next going on motorway. Old Model Freelander TD4 HSE Auto towing 1450kg caravan at 60 mph over long distances with 2 adults and two childered ages 4&5 and a dog in the boot was getting on average 20 mpg. This was tested over 2 years and is the average. Looking forward to testing the FL2 at the end of next week. |

Now tested it we did 16.2mpg on the way there but have to admit that the car say for over 30 mins not going anywhere whilst we sorted things out and 22.5mpg on the way back which in my book is very good considering that as well as towing a 1.5t twin axle caravan I had 4 bikes on the roof.
