Private plate procedure advice needed

We've just treated ourself to a private plate for our Freely. Wifey is nominee on the certificate of entitlement and car is registered to her. Got my plates made up today and want to fit them tomorrow.
I know I need to go to my local dvla office in Sidcup with the documentation.
I have: Certificate of entitlement, tax disc, MOT, green V5 slip (only bought it Saturday so no full V5).
Is that it? What's the procedure. I was going to send someone down to get it done for me, can I do that or do I need to be present? Are there any more forms to fill in when you get there?

Thanks in advance. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Present: Audi A3 S Line.

The obvious one is telling your insurance company when you are changing it so they can change their records accordingly. Once you have filled in all the forms (you might need the full V5 but not sure, check directgov website or DVLA), you then get the new tax disc. I posted all mine rather than going in person.

With new tax disc in, I went to my local garage who made up the plates and fitted them there and then. The old reg goes on auto retention. I know this because when I got rid of my old car, the dealer had it for sale on the original reg.

Take all the items you have listed to the local DVLA office, they will issue you a new tax disc and mot.
Go home, tell insurers, fit plates and drive.
Thats how it was for me. Thumbs Up

As above, simple process. If going to the office is not convenient, you can do it by post but it takes a bit longer.

You can send someone else providing you have signed everything beforehand Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

All sorted. Easy!

As I run a mechanics training centre called 'Pitstop Training Centre' in London, E7, I picked this one.

Mrs D didn't want a private plate as she hates that type of thing - doesn't like anything that may draw attention to her when she's in the car. Rolling Eyes I'm not going to tell her and see how long before she notices. Mr. Green Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Where did you get it made? I have had ones off the Internet before and they weren't of a very good quality.

Main dealer. Lookers Landrover at Chelmsford. £18.75 each plus VAT. Wanted the main dealer name on the plate, looks better I think.

Stratstone, the Censoreds wanted £60 plus VAT for the pair. Fitted. Told them I'd fit them myself and they said you can't, we don't do supply only on plates, they must be fitted by us!

Teehee, Mrs D has just been outside to check out the mudflaps. Got the thumbs up but she didn't clock the plate so I've got away with it at least until tomorrow when she takes it to work. Laughing Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

How can a dealer try and charge so much for plates? I wonder if they charge the same if a car failed an mot because of the plates and needed replacing? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
