Spinning the wheels

I am just replacing my disc pads (on my Automatic) and have jacked up the rear of the car.I can spin the wheels OK to check for any problems with the brakes when finished. So I go to the front and jack up the car (still in park) and the wheels are locked in gear. How can I spin the front wheels without starting the engine?Does anyone know? Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys

Is the gear lever in 'Park' rather than 'Neutral' Idea

should be able to start the car, then shift to neutral and then turn off again, i assume this will free up the gearbox and allow wheel rotation Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

No, with the engine off you just press the button without your foot on the brake then move the lever to neutral.

Or, leave it in neutral with engine running and hit stop button twice.

I believe either way you have to end up with not being able to remove the docking key until its back in 'Park'
