MY13 tow bar electrucs

I removed my tow bar and electrics from my 09 FL2 before I PX'd it last week.. I asked them to enable Tow Bar in the new cars system and they said they did???

but I've just come to check it work by plugging the loom and ECU into the socket... but nothing?.. the plug is the same and fits.. but the fuse box hardly has anything in it and is not the same layout as the old one... so I'm not sure where the 3 fuses go now as the electrical install manual does not showe what to do.. I'm off on line now to try finf the MY13 install....
but does anyone know if the OEM electrics will work on this from my 09?.. cheers

The fuse box itself should tell you what each fuse holder controls ... ON the lid of it on mine.

Tbh, probably better getting an electrical kit for the 2013 MY ... Don't they have a different comms system from the canbus of previous years ( I could be wrong )

I'm sure it can be done as the plug is the same... if it had changed I'm sure they would have changed the plug...

On the fuse box lid it says nothing about the tow bar (as it did on the 09)....
TBH there is only 2 fuse boards in there now where the old one had 3... and there is not much in them at all.... may be the new one has another fuse box for the towbar somewhere???..

thanks for your comments anyway Smile

Actualy, just looking in the manual (alwats a good idea Smile )

the tow bar fuses now appear to be in the glove box fuse box (glove box or drivers side?)...

so will investigate further tomorrow Wink

towbar electrics

Before I received my new MY2013 GS ,I asked the dealer to ensure the towbar was enabled in the vehicles ECU.They said they would do this.I intended to fit a towbar myself. On collection they said that the towbar could not be enabled without the towbar electrics being connected to the vehicle and I would have to bring the vehicle back after fitting the electrics to have it enabled.I have bought the towbar but have yet to fit it so will only find out the actual "facts" shortly.

2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Barolo Black

ok i have got my 2013 FL a few weeks back and had an after market man come round and install a tow bar, he just plugged the wire snack in, put a relay and fuse into the box behind the glove box and it just worked. no software updates or ecu bits to enable - it just worked.

i was rather Censored as the only reason i paid someone to do the install was because the book said the tow bar electrics needed to be enabled!.....

May be a battery off would do it.. but I'll let them mess... Cheers Smile

England 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Mauritius Blue

When I bought my new Freelander in November, Land Rover were still quoting the old part number for the 13my !
I got in touch with my local dealer, who told me the electrics had been changed and they ordered the new parts,
I had a local tow bar fitter put me a new Witter detach tow bar on....which work fine,

PS part number I quoted is for 13 pin electrics....hope that helps 14my,SD4 Auto XS Mauritius Blue, , Arm Rests, Privacy Glass, rear camera,
