Friend of the wifes was pulled over for speeding this week by the police. She was speeding on the motorway. The lady in question also had a young child with her. Now i'm not condoning speeding etc, the lady had an issue with the police officer as he wanted the lady to leave the child unattended in the car on the hard shoulder while the speeding offence was written out in the police car. The lady said she would not leave the child unatteneded so aparently the police officer got arsy with her as he wrote out the ticket on the hard shoulder.

Yeah I believe the ladies husband is putting a complaint in. I know with everything that is said about parking on the hard shoulder I wouldn't leave my kid alone either. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Hard shoulders should not be stood near. I would have took the kid out and asked the officer to stand away from the car. See itv4 durring the day for s9me results.

Sounds like someone is a bit miffed about being caught speeding to me and trying to divert the attention - it is obviously someone so caring about their young child they think it will help the safety and wellbeing of their child by speeding on the motorway. I'm sure the police car would have been in fend off position BEHIND the offender's car with blue and red lights warning on coming traffic that the hard shoulder was blocked.

How many times have you seen on those cop tv shows a car pulled by the fuzz and the inboard camera of the police car films the car pulled over been wiped out by a rubber necking idiot been parked behind with the lights flashing is no safety barrier Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

How many times do you see on said programmes the guilty concocting every lame story in the book to divert attention away from their stupid/illegal activities - this is a classic example |

I don't know the persons involved, but the fact is wether done for speeding or not, I don't think it's appropriate to leave a kid in the car, I don't see anything that's saying I'm trying to detract from the fact I got done for speeding in what was written by the OP

I tend to agree with Richard on this, I don't condone speeding although I do, I have been stopped and shown footage of my driving, the speed recorded was 96 on the M56 in Cheshire, the result was, I was warned on the spot to slow down a bit, the reason he let me off lightly was my observation and the fact I left a decent distance behind other cars before I whizzed past them.

After the event the 'lady' should take it on the chin, accept the offence and move on. No good bitching about it afterwards.

Can't understand why people think she's bitching because she was done for speeding, it would still inappropriate if she got pulled over for incorrect spacing of a number plate Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

No, she doesn't have to get out of the car. We have even been given guidance on just such a situation where a young child is present. That being said, I'd not be standing by the drivers window whilst doing the ticket. I'd be talking to you through the passenger window.
