Nice...I'm currently saving for a '7' Wink

My 7 was the best car I ever owned Smile so well woth the saving

and to keep on the MPG theam it would do 1ltr per min on the track Smile (Pictures to follow at the weekend, and a few of my other cars)

When I look at MPG, on most cars I have owned I can normally obtain the Combined figure, when I am using them for business trips (i.e. doing miles).

Took my car to the dealers today for the sunrrof fix

on way there i got up to my cruising speed on the motorway and reset the mpg upon arriving at my dealer 10minutes later 29.1mpg was shown speed near constant all the way.

Courtasy car was a GS with the same engine, and gear box, (just less fuel in the tank) same again on the way from the dealers 27.6mpg as i was pulling off the motorway.

Taking into the account the different weights of the car and gradients differ on each of the directions of travel i think the mpg isn't to far out

My test was carried out at a cruising speed and the reset was done upon reaching said speed (just off the slip road) and the speed remained near constant till the slip road near the dealer, No FL2 where flashed by BMW drivers inconducting this test as they were going slower than me Whistle  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Done a bit of an experiment today, 50 mile trip to the airport returned 42.2 MPG, mixture of a and b roads, cruise set to 70 where possible full tank showing 550 mile range.

This was tiring to be as economical as possible.

Very pleased with that, just seems to be the cold starts that kill the overall economy.

I took mine on a 430 mile round trip (70mph) last weekend, just after it had an oil change. it seems the MPG has dropped right off from mid 40s down to early 30s Crying or Very sad The oil was a recommended type from Opie, and a new filter was fitted.

A few weeks before the missus put 20ls of unleaded in the tank when the fuel light had just come on. Of course it wouldn't restart and the efforts of the fuel doctor didn't work either. In the end I used an old fuel pipe and a few in line fittings with the ignition on to remove the unleaded/diesel, and eventually with fresh diesel and some bleeding the car started.

Can anyone explain or give reasons why the consumption has dropped off? I've checked the fittings on the filter and all appears dry so it's not a simple loose connection.

To be honest20 l of unleaded is not so great a problem, just brim it with diesel an add 5 00 mils of 2 stroke and jobs a good un.

Some folk pay a fortune draining tanks, filters etc, but I've had no probs since I did exactly that, and that was 2 years ago and everything is working just fine.  MY2014 SD4 XS
