Turbo Pipe

Just wondering if anybody knows what the pipe is that runs from inlet to turbo is, had a new turbo fitted in may 2012 and mot on friday noticed oil around the turbo. took it to local 4x4 garage who done the turbo in the first place and they have said its the pipe that has split, but they are on back order from LR as they are a common problem. just wondering if anyone has heard of this problem and can shed some light on it for me.
Mick

How big is the pipe?

It's probably the exhaust gas recirculation (egr). An emissions thing which IMHO is a waste of time

To be quite honest ive no idea. Was just told the splattering of oil on and around the turbo was caused by this split pipe from the intake to the turbo
On the estimate it costs £68.48 if thats any help and is listed as air hose.
obviuosly was wanting to know if anyone had had the same problem or new what the exact part was prior to me giving the garage the ok to do the work.

Pipe

If you look at the back top of the engine there is a horizontal pipe running right to left often described as the organ pipe. At it right end corner there is an offtake which by a smaller pipe goes to the crankcase venting system sucking fumes including some oil residue. The left of the organ pipe has a bellows which connect to a hard moulded plastic pipe which turns downwards down the end of the engine before another corner bend takes it to the turbo 'cold side' inlet; this must be the pipe that had split so it leaks a small amount of engine vapour oil to the turbo. It will leak mainly at standstill, engine off as during normal running it will be under slight vacuum. I think it's nothing to worry about, labour should be about 1 hour inc fetching the car from its parking bay and removing the roadwheel for easy access to the turbo. Maybe there should be a charge for first aid plasters for the cut and bruised skin! As access is tight and the pipe needs persuasion in and out.
Kind regards Thumbs Up

Thanks for the reply, Garage stated it would be about an hours work to remove and refit the pipe. lets just hope it solves the problem.

The pipe that i had replaced is only about 2" long made of thick soft rubber with all i can describe as nobbly bits on it. (great technical term there). It had two splits in the rubber and also a mark on it that looks like a jubilee clip has been attached. i presume that one end attaches to the turbo. since replacement a couple of days ago and £136 lighter in my pocket i instantly noticed better performance, only trouble now is on my way back from scotland yesterday luckily not to far from home car has reduced engine performance message and its gone into limp mode again just like when i had the turbo problems, (New turbo fitted approx april/may 2012) was in 6th gear doing about 70mph when the info message flashed up, no black smoke or nothing like that, like i had when turbo gave up on me. im hoping its possibly something to do with the new part fitted or something like that, as i love the car but my patience is running awfully thin now, After a year of ownership, and new power steering pump, turbo, clutch, dual mass fly wheel, pinion bearing on rear diff collapse, this silly bit of rubber and now another info message. Big Cry ive tried to post a jpeg image of the small rubber hose saved on my computer gallery for other readers to see but as yet this simple task seems to not so simple. (help appreciated). like with my freel2 i dont intend to give up just yet.

Hi Geordiemick,

I've just come up against exact same problem. You wouldn't happen to have an LR part number for the rubber thingy by any chance? MY10 TD4 SE Auto

Hi,

I need to replace the same air connector LR025326 by silicone straight reducer. Does anyone knows what are inner diameters for LR025326? Many thanks for any advice.
