FL2 diagnostic news and help needed

Although i have been a commercial supporter of this site for years now, along with all Martins sites, even offering established members a discount on our diagnostic equipment.

http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/download...freel2.pdf

It seems i have never registered and posted here before now Embarassed
Don't panic, i am not posting here as part of some new sales drive Thumbs Up

Those who visit the DISCO3.CO.UK site especially will know all about me and what I/BBS do, and there are even some who actually own either our Faultmate MSV-2 of Faultmate FCR for the Freelander 2, as up until a year ago we did offer coverage for it.

However it seemed there were problems, especially in accessing the Most Bus based infotainment systems on the FL2 with the FCR and at the time we were pretty much tied up with developing the D3 and D4 stuff, so we elected to discontinue offering FL2 until such time as we could look more deeply into this.

That time is now here and there are also new developments i have to consider like adding this to the Nanocom Evolution.

The FL2 coverage situation is but a loose end that niggles me and i really need to sort this out and get it tied up.

I could work on borrowed FL2's, but most ideally i need to construct an FL2 bench test rig like i have for all other models.

I have already purchased a full set of the main ECU's, BCU, EMS, instrument pack and matching key with its dock module.
But i am short of the main wiring looms to connect these and start adding the other ECU's.

I need to find a breaker of a Freelander 2 who is willing to strip out all the wiring and ECU's and ship / supply them to me as a job lot.

I am only but hoping that someone on this forum can possibly help me in this.

Warmest Regards

Colin

Hopefully there aren't any MY13 being broken up just yet, unless it's one of the LR test cars.

Welcome!
I am so glad that finally some "sun will shine on my street" too...
I am one of the people that owns an FCR for FL2 and I am quite satisfied with its functioning, less, like you said, Audio Amp, Audio Control and Telephone modules.
At that time (about one and a half year ago) Mr. Blakey said that there is no problem with the FCR as you haven't had any previous reported issues from the many customers who have purchased the Freelander 2 FCR.
Now I have the confirmation that, in reality, it wasn't a problem on my end and maybe soon some firmware update will appear in order to make it fully functional and enjoy it as I should.
Thank you very much and keep up the good work!

I will have spare mid line sound amplifier in about a week because I'm changing/swaping/adding mid line audio with extra 5 speakers and sound amplifier to high line it 2007 Freelander HSE LHD. If that helps I could do it FOC for you Smile

Yea Npinks, the 2013 stuff is like the Evoque, so its the earlier 2007 on stuff that is the problem.

So a very early model is fine, but it does need to be a High line with a MOST Bus as the main problem we have is with handling the CAN Most Gatewaying which is done by the Infotainment Control Module unit(ICM). This is a bit tricky as it requires communications to 2 ECU's at the same time Rolling Eyes .

That's why anyone with a Non High line vehicle does not report any problem.

We could probably manage to sort the problem out with just the Gateway (Infotainment Control Module) unit and a Most Bus item, if we had to, as i could hard wire the powers and have some Most Bus cabling.

gruodiz, thank you for your kind offer. I will be in touch. I have not come across Mid line, Is this a Most Bus system like the High line?

I could borrow you that high line amplifier but it depends on what time. For more info we can deal on PMs. BTW check my gallery I added couple pics there with mid line system and how does it look the premium amplifier and back pillar speakers. Still waiting for brand new 3 additional instrument panel speakers. Rear speakers with pillar plastics and amplifier I found 2nd hand.

Hiya gruodiz
I checked out your gallery, reminds me of when i updated the infotainment on my Disco 3.

The pictures of your amp that are in the Car is this what you refer to as the Mid line amp?

As well as changing the Amp and adding the extra speakers, you may also need to edit your vehicles CCF.

If you PM me your VIN, i can look deeper into this for you.

Currently only the FAULTMATE MSV-2 can do this but as i already mentioned, as well as needing to get this sorted for the FCR and MSV-2, we are also planning to add Freelander 2 coverage on our Nanocom Evolution.
If you are not familiar with this have a look at this thread which has a description and pictures of this

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic88934.html

This will also have CCF editing capabilities that will be provided via our on line "Genesis" system

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic88978.html

In fact if you look at about my third post on this thread, i have provided log in details for a demo account that anyone can use to log in, enter their VIN and see their own vehicles CCF settings, so you can check out your own options for the Amplifier type gruodiz. The Analysis percentage values will tell you how many vehicles were produced with what settings.

I own independent LR garage now and do module reflash from time to time for RRS/D3 and repair those vehicles. I work with SDD and dont really like it because of slow motion. I'll contact you a bit later on PM. The mid line amp which is now in my car from the factory I can give you FOC when my premium line 2nd hand arrives. Or I can still drive with this mid line audio and borrow you that premium line amp for some time Thumbs Up

Tell me about it Big Cry
Most folks think our equipment must be somehow less than OEM equipment but in reality it runs rings around it.

But this is actually good news, as it means that in return for your old unwanted mid line amp, i can supply you with a modified "AS BUILT" file you can use your SDD to upload to your FL2 to get your new Vehicle Config working as it should.

wiring and glow plugs

Regarding the wiring harness you will be buying, I have noted that there are two different Glow Plug systems with different engine wiring harnesses. The usual one has the Glow plug relay and Glow fuse in the engine fuse box at the front (my car is 2010 and has that format. There is another type where there is a glow plug ECU (yes - ECU); hidden centrally inside the scuttle panel in front of the windcscreen. I have a harness dated April 2009 'Landrover' that came with a replacement engine i bought, the ECU is missing however.

Will you be notifying those of us e that 'post' when your new blackbox is available? 2010GS Auto ex Celeb, Santorini Black, 2011 facelift , spoiler, spats, mudflaps, LED footwell lamps, Witter detach,

Replied just now gruodiz Thumbs Up

Hiya Fredastaire
Thanks for the input.
If it is anything like the D3 etc, there is usually an "Engine Bay loom" and "Engine loom" that is unique to the type of engine fitted.
I don't typically need an "Engine loom" as i don't have an engine, but a Bay loom can come in quite handy as usually there are a few ECU's that connect via this, ABS, EMS, Autobox etc.

But i certainly need a "Facia loom" and a "main Loom" and although i may also be able to work without one, an "Infotainment Loom" would be really nice. I don't need door, seat or tailgate looms.

I really don't mind if these are damaged, cut, or incomplete as i can stitch up what is needed as long as i have the connectors.
