United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Lago Grey

I don't think it's really a majority anyway - it's just that there are some fanatical auto owners. And I suspect many of them have never even driven the manual a decent distance! The manual is a very nice drive so long as you don't spend all day every day stuck in traffic.

Absolutely. Back when I had to do a lot of commuting I drove an auto. Now I'm fortunate enough to do relatively little city driving I've reverted to a manual. (I still want a low range though!)

I just don't like torque converters, and the way they decouple the engine from the wheels. I prefer the direct connection of a manual. Particularly off road, where a torque converter gets in the way, and makes for less smooth progress.

The thing on this forum, though, is that there are certain auto owners who think the auto is the only choice, and seek to push everyone into going that route. I drive a manual by choice, but I would never try to push anyone else in that direction. Both auto and manual are excellent cars, each with their own benefits and drawbacks. You decide what's right for you and go with it, and don't listen to the fanatics!
