What Will £17000 Buy ?

Hi,
Looking to buy a Freelander 2 in a few weeks , will have 17K hopefully after selling my 2011 Kuga and wondering what it could get me year and spec wise ?
Manual box required

Had 4 TD4's from 2001 to 20011 ( all 1 versions )

Thanks

If buying from a trader you should expect some sort of warranty . You also should have as protection of - the sale of goods act- trade descriptions act- if on HP the Hire purchase protection act of 1963- etc etc but you will pay more than say. A private seller who is easier to negotiate the price with but do without the above, and any pre purchase checks will be down to you to pay for if using one of the motoring services. Often its a case of buy as seen or similar if private purchase

I always do my own HPI check irrespective of what a garage or private seller says, my son nearly got caught out with this when looking at a dealers car for sale.

AS for what to expect it depends if your going for petrol or diesel and the distance your willing to travel. Searching on the net is the best way to see what's out there , I looked only yesterday and the choice is huge.

type of what you can expect, prices can also vary depending on the area of the UK

easiest way is to check out the engine speck on earlier models, one difference is the stop/start facility and another is fuel economy.

The reason I had a manual was I like to think Im doing something rather then just steering the thing.

Was thinking about the MPG really , what you getting in an auto ? , starting looking online and around £17000 seems to be 2010 2.2 TD4e S/GS .
Would prefer one with park sensors/terrain response if poss .

Forget S if you want those features then, you'll be better off with a GS.

GS auto mpg

We have a 2010 auto GS and live in a hilly village in south Derbyshire, our average mpg is showing as 34.5
I've driven autos since 1982, we also have a manual Meriva.
You really ought to try hiring an auto for a few days; once you've had a good few days you will not want a manual given the choice! Thumbs Up 2010GS Auto ex Celeb, Santorini Black, 2011 facelift , spoiler, spats, mudflaps, LED footwell lamps, Witter detach,

I would buy a new freelander 2, because it's been a great car to date. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
But it would have to be an AUTO (The clutch is the weakest part on the car.)
Any towing or Off Roading can soon heat the clutch up. The cost of a new clutch will soon out strip any MPG saving Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

17K should get you a nice GS low mileage or a slightly older HSE !! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

R.E. Manual. I have just ordered a new Evoque in Manual but the Evoque is a drivers car & is excellent in either manual or auto form ( I have just sold my Auto Evoque).
When I had my FL2 it was a manual, I got that for 2 reasons - 1st I was too tight to pay extra for auto & 2nd supposedly better fuel consumption. I disliked my manual.
I have been lent by mt dealer a FL2 HSE Auto & it suits the car much better as the Freelander is not a drivers car it drives you ( as in you can't drive it in the same way as an Evoque or sporty hatch) but is an excelent cruiser.
We nearly bought a Freelander Dynamic & that was going to be the auto. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

Kind regards to all

Pre-MY2011 Freelander 2 came with a 2.2litre 160 bhp diesel engine.
Post MY2011 it came with 2 options, a TD4 with 150 bhp and an SD4 with 190 bhp, again both a 2.2 litre diesel.
TD4 can be bought with both manual and auto gearbox options, SD4 is only available with an auto gearbox.
