What tyres do you have on?

How did the Freelander 2 get on in the snow?

Continental Conti Cross Contact AT FR XL 235/65 17".
I made a mistake when I bought universal tires (for all the year)!
They are very good, but not in snow. They slip to side and the braking is too long!!!
The tread is very good for scramble out. I get under the snow often, but i get out.
When you drive by the road, mud or sand, they are very goood.
Recommended usage on:off is 50:50... thatīs right.

PS: Next time I will buy tires for summer and winter ( Conti Cross again, or BF Goodrich AT )

yes great pictures Moon 13, you must have a lot of useful knowledge re the capabilities of the FL2 in those situations.

something most of us will never experience !!

can the FL2 hold it's own against the Discos and Defenders ?

Iain

I donīt know Smile Last year I was driving light off-road for 4 times. I checked off-road way, forest way, green field...
I mean all the terrains. There were lot of places I can not get through because of the clearance height!
Boys with Disco and Defs around me were surprised Cool
But I am not going to be like they are. You can see on the pics modified LRs.
However Freelander is not ready for hard terrains ( ladder frame, reduction, differential lock ),
but you can make lot of things thanks the Terrain Response.
I know what I can afford and I donīt want to destroy my car Rolling Eyes
PS: I hope that my modification will be finished soon (this year). If not, I will buy one more LR for driving all off roads.

thanks Moon 13, yes I suppose the ground clearance on the FL2 limits where it can go, and also cannot compare to these modified Discos, etc.

good to hear the terrain response system is there when it's needed..............although I have yet to use mine, but does give a certain peace of mind.

Iain

News . wheels and tires

After two great years with 16" and BF Goodrich AT I am back on 17".
BF AT the best ever for "all terrain"! Now with Kumho AT, drives quiter and with a little better grip on road, but I can feel the difference between 16 an 17 wheels, and BF/Kumho also.
