Wheel change

Just come in from changing wheels from 17"standard to 19"silver sparkle style
5. What a difference! If I knew how to upload photos, I would. Just waiting for
my chrome mirror covers to arrive now. Thumbs Up Don't know whether to go
for chrome rear after all the detrimental comments on here! Confused

It's your choice, and I'm a fan of nice wheels....

But

I always look at chrome add ons and think they look just that, add ons ... And look so false. Far better with colour coded IMHO.

19" wheels do make a difference to the look of the car.

They also make a difference to the ride, you'll feel the road and every pot hole. Your MPG will go down by around 2mpg.

I've still got 8 19" wheels and tryes in my garage awaiting collection from a sale in September Rolling Eyes

Having tried them all the best performance is from 18" and the best looks 19"

At the risk of side tracking the thread:

larger wheels reduced your mpg by 2mpg? really? That seems quite a lot.

Was there much difference in the tyre of tyre fitted ?

I would disagree totally by the mpg comment.

Going from 18" to 19" will make no difference at all as they are both 235 wide tyres and there is no extra drag with 19's. There is no difference in mpg going to 20's either on the mpg front.

I started with 18's, then on to 19's and I am now running 20's, there is a very very slight increase in harshness on the 20's but you only notice on very bad roads. But on decent roads, the 20's are a more composed ride.

There is no difference in hardness between 18's and 19's. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Fitting a larger wheel may introduce additional unsprung weight, and small changes can alter vehicle handling and performance. Additionally, fuel economy can be impacted by tire changes of the same width and diameter, as different tires have different rolling resistances.

However, my take is that any actual performance difference (1-2 mpg) is so small that a causal link would be difficult to establish, when correcting for the multitude of other variables (e.g., temp, terrain, air density, fuel differences, etc.). 2013 LR2 HSE LUX: 2.0L I4; Barolo Black, Ebony Windsor Leather; Navigation, Satellite Radio, Cold Weather Pack, Piano Black Trim.

I notified my insurer and they said it was fine as long as they were Land Rover wheels and could have been fitted as optional extra. A Land Rover owner since 1988
