One and half inches... cost £130

Noticed the head of a small tack yesterday, stuck in the rear nearside sidewall just below the tread. Thought do I pull it out or do I leave it. Can'nt be that deep surely Question Decided did'nt want a slow or a problem on the motorway with the "ol lady" at the wheel. Rolling Eyes so feeling lucky got the pliers and started to slowly pull....One and a half inches later.... hissssssss Censored Guess what.? nobody will repair sidewall punctures anymore. Sad ..I know it aint safe to do so.. But a new wranger £130.!!! Censored Bloody thing would'nt have penetrated the Goodyear A/T s on the old Defender, still I suppose this is the price of comfort and safety... Neutral lucan400

It hurts but with the size and weight they carry its new tyre time at least you know it will be safe then.

I dont mean to worry you but just out of intrest as much as anything is it not recommended you fit a pair on the same axle when fitting tyres on a 4x4?

I had 4 wranglers fitted yesterday and could not get them anywhere near £130 each so you are lucky to nail one at that price ! FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

Used to be a problem with 'winding' on the original Freelander but I don't think it's so much of a problem with the 'new' Haldex. 2008 FL2 TD4 XS Zermatt Silver, Manual

The spare ive got on mine has had a repair on the sidewall, about halfway down. Its been vulcanized over by the looks of it. I got the car second hand and only noticed the repair a few weeks after I got the car. I dont know if as soon as it is used if the repair will fail or not? I'm changing all 4 tyres soon so I might get the tyre fitter to take it off and look at it Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Yes thought about equal tread on axle. Luckily spare about same wear on a full alloy wheel so just swapped em over, Whistle will keep replacement tyre as spare until I need some new rubber ( unless I collect another Censored nail..) lucan400

Keeping the spare as new rubber is fine so long as you can still buy the same type of tyre. Manufacturers seem to update fairly often. You might be better off buying a pair, or posibly looking for a second hand tyre from a reliable source.

I recently fitted two new front tyres to my wife’s MY 10 GS - 3 months apart - and there are no problems. This was only an issue (new tyres on the front axle) with the FL1.

Have to say £130 for a Wrangler is good - the cheapest I could get from ATS was £149

had a sidewall puncture revulcanised a few months ago. It worked for a while, but has since failed resulting in a new tyre Sad
It was worth the attempt as it was a brand new tyre, but I never 100% trusted it.
