Shell Fuel Save Diesel

Ignoring arguments over the so called super diesels, Shell claim that their fuel save diesel beats supermarket diesel for MPG and miles out of a full tank.

Shell not far from me is 139.9 but Morrisons that I use are 136.9 with fuel prices due to rise. Do any of you guys use fuel save and if so have you noticed any difference? 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

I went from always filling up at tesco to Shell when the took over a local garage and I have noticed a increase in mpg, not noticed it been quieter or anything though, but I don't really bother listening Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I've got all the supermarkets near me but if I'm near home my local Esso station is only about 1p a litre dearer. There is a slight improvement in mpg (empirically rather than perceived) so I'm happy to pay the extra. I rarely use any of the Shell fuels but when I have there has been a positive difference but probably not enough to warrant the extra expense.

Interesting. I usually put 」60-」70 in rather than fill it up because 」60-」70 feels less painful Laughing and because a full tank makes the car heavier, it will be less economical (so I read).

I am no good at maths but if I put 」70 worth of Morrisons diesel in at 136.9, how much more would I have to spend at Shell to get the same amount of fuel at 139.9?

Just balancing savings in MPG with shell fuel against the cheaper price of Morrisons fuel Confused 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

glug glug, it all come from the same few refineries, same stuff, shell stuff may/maynot have a few additives mixed in they may/may not work. pay your money take your choice.

generally the people who pay more are also the ones that give their cars nose jobs, go figure Confused

Feel lucky that 」60-70 isnt far off a full tank for you, thats less than 1/2 a tank for some of us if filling up at the pump...

If you look online enough you'll find a lot of US diesel owners are putting in a few litres of BioD with each fillup and noticing an improvement in MPG as well as quietening the engine down.

It wouldn't surprise me if these super fuels just had a bit more BioD in them than normal and some extra winterizer as well... FL2 work pilot!

If you think its just veg oil thrown into a tank and crossing of fingers thats way off the mark. It would separate out for a start and cause all sorts of gremlins on LR engines from 2003=> on, and possibly earlier ones as well.

Dont get me wrong its still thicker than diesel unless blended with another liquid but its good for the wallet.

as its made from waste as well its good and if you use/make under 2500litres you don't need to pay the road duty on it as it would cost HMRC more to proccess your MONTHLY accounts than they would make on it Wink FL2 work pilot!

My mates in the process of fixing a tranny van engine ford durotorq, the fuel filter contained about a 1/3 litre yellow diesel, kero, chip fat and when tipped in a coke bottle 1 inch of water. The engine wont start ,cranks very fast no compression, suspected worn timing chain. Due to knocky fuel
Van belongs to a local bodge builder and also needed a new head gasket after having frozen coolant At work

If the BioD is made properly then you should be fine with it in the LR engines of recent.

If its bad then its only fit for older IDI Bosch pumped cars.

There are very few commercial suppliers who make it well. I've tried 3 locally now and found either some soaps left in it, some meth, or just not enough meth used and there is still some unreacted stuff in it Sad

If WVO was less than 50p/litre I'd be making own but now everyone is buying it up for their older cars its double that most of the time for even the worst stuff Sad FL2 work pilot!

I know Sad

Its nice to see that some water authorities are now burning off the gas created from the process to power the places and have often found they end up with a large excess.

I know UU are looking at pumping it into some form of grid as they power some vehicles from it for local use, but generate the heat and power for the plants. I have heard talk of them spending a few 」100k at one very overproductive plant on gensets powered by the stuff just to feed back into the grid and make a small fortune off it as the calculations look like it would pay back in a few years and then some Smile FL2 work pilot!

Not all cars need the conversion though.

I covered about 60k+ in a few xantias and they will run on the dog worst fuel you can find.

One was a particular bad machine bodywork wise so i tested everything on it.

Filtered WVO, Engine oil, misfuell.... the lot.

And in the cold it would struggle to start if i rushed and not run great on mis fuel but it ran and did its job.

SVO from costco when it was 」12 per 20litre tub was best, Pull up, go shop, fill tank in car park, drive off Smile

cheapest motoring i ever had in terms of TCO and TCOR FL2 work pilot!
