The FL2 has gone, part exchanged for a 61 plate Black Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 Diesel auto LWB
The FL2 was excellent for the 3.5 years i owned it and would recommend one to anyone, perfect balance of refinement, 4x4 capability, economy, reliability etc
3.5 years is probably the longest i've owned a car, and it was time for a change while it still had a reasonable value,
I wanted something bigger, that is capable in the rough, reliable and well equipped, and the Shogun ticks all the boxes, it's not as refined as a disco but feels very solid, built to last and i'm not too fussed about refinement, i like the rugged no nonsense feel of the Shogun, and after today's heavy snow i got to christen it right away! It ploughed on through it all with no fuss at all!
I didn't feel the FL2 had changed quite enough to justify handing over so much cash for such a similar vehicle.
I'll still be calling in on the forum simply because its by far the best, most helpful and friendly forum i've ever been part of.

Well enjoy your new car you wont go far wrong with a Shogun even with the Freelander as comparison they are a big old bus. Most of the country is looking out of the window saying oh crap snow,you're going yaaaaaay

Now just where does the Freelander 2 get it parts from?
An Engine which has its origins with Peugeot / Citroen FRANCE!
Other major parts say Fomoco, ie that American owned Ford Company
Auto box from Japan?
Electronics units from Japan
centre diff unit (or whatever is the proper name), says Sweden
I bought Engine bolts that were labelled as 'Taiwan' on the LR bag
I'm sure that other parts of the FL come from many other countries.

My Son has a 2006 XTrail and what I would comment on of Japanese Cars is the poor build quality particularly the lack of corrosion prevention and the somewhat delicate (ie skinny and weak) suspension components when compared to the FL . 2010GS Auto ex Celeb, Santorini Black, 2011 facelift , spoiler, spats, mudflaps, LED footwell lamps, Witter detach,

ha ha.. as Arthur Daley would say "buy British" i'm a big believer in keeping buisness local but unfortunately this time there simply weren't really any other options available,
and yes you're right compared to the FL2 it is a fair size!
The only thing i do need done is privacy glass.
