Not braking to slow down, but braking to avoid slip whilst accelerating/holding speed in deep snow.

The fl2 controls wheel spin on snow by detecting a spinning wheel and braking that wheel. Thus it can be using the brakes even if you're not. In deep snow, with GGS and DSC on, it can even end up braking all wheels to the point at which the car stops! (Had that happen!) I had a slight smell which I think was the brakes under similar circumstances recently.

This idea of turning DSC off...yes that is correct advice, but only if the car has pretty much stopped with it on!

I'm so glad of this post. I was out last week and whenever I stopped there was a bit of a smell in the car. The roads weren't particularly bad - but then maybe the FL2 was doing a bit more than I thought! |
