check the encoding setings, ie click on edit/preferences/advanced/burning then select either Audio Cd or MP3 Cd, depending on what you want to write.

My argument for just using mp3 CD's and forgetting to take the iPod out has been proved today by a D3 owner

b) 3.5,mm -> 3.5mm jack from Aux port on centre console to iPod. Upsides - uses built in hardwired connectivity. Wonder whether this will provide decent audio. Downsides - it will not charge the iPod so will need a separate charge cable to the 12V socket - which means 2 cables to connect

This might sound incredibly dim but where on centre console do you plug it in? Please let the car start!!!!!

The Aux port is at the rear of the centre console next to the 12V socket Chris

Thanks Guys, yesterday added a 3.5 to 3.5 Jack lead to an E Buyer order, less than £2. Will report back, being tight put on snail mail. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit

3.5 - 3.5 connector works well, however you need to turn the ipod right up to get it to the same level as the radio before you use the radio volume control. 08 Santorini Black HSE manual with DAB and privacy glass

Looks Neat. Can you get to the button on the bottom of the iphone, it looks concealed a little.

I like how the auxillary plugs into the base.

This proves that you need to wear thermals and grow legs

The heats is way up on the drivers side and the seat is further forward.

edh, Thanks for the comment about turning up ipod volume, Can confirm my less than £2 3.5mm to 3.5mm Jack Plug Lead works at treat, I must admit given my sucess at technology I was amazed. The 1st miracle was downloading music to the ipod, that music issued forth from Emilys speakers astounded me. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit

Seem to recall this is an issue, the security encoding on i-Tunes purchases limits how you can share. A legal i-Tunes purchase is not a simple mp3 (I've just checked in my I-tunes library a song I know was a legal download is a "security coded AAC format" where another one that I know was loaded from a legal CD shows as "mp3". I think the AAC coded files have sharing that is somehow limited to Apple equipment.

So you can play your I-tunes songs through an i-pod into another system (e.g. i pod in car) but you can't take the file out of an i-pod / i-tunes and re-locate the file e.g. burning to a CD.

however there are programs that can do this, not sure of its name as i still use CD's and then put them into iTunes,

They convert AAC to MP3 and lets you make a CD, you can also use the same program to take music off somebody elses iPod and put it on your computer.

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Sumatra Black

I use a Belkin iPod adaptor http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage...Id=149006. It uses the bottom connector so iPod is chrged whilst being used and then connected via a 3.5mm cable to the AUX input. You can find thses adaptors for around £15.
