2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HST Auto Santorini Black
Dolby Prologic II

Hi,
I've just picked up my first FL2; a 2008 HST. The spec states that it has the alpine Dolby Prologic premium system with 14 speakers however when I try to use the different listening modes I.e PL II, stereo I can't find the option to switch. I'm pressing the tone / music note button but all I can do is cycle through bass, treble etc. Additionally, when I keep my finger on the button I access the AVC option but nothing else. I've tried it with a number of audio formats; cd's, mp3's but I get the same results. I also couldn't see any rear surround speakers in the pillars at the back of the car.

Has anyone else experienced this or am I doing some stupid? Or do you think the spec is not entirely accurate?

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for your replies. Seems odd to me that the car doesn't have that mode. If the system was added as an option it should have the full functionality irrespective of whether its and HSE or not.

What makes you think it's been added as an option?

The SE (inc HST) radio looks exactly the same, but doesn't have the DBII or the rear speakers in the rear

If it's because it's in the handbook, they cover everything, doesn't mean it will be in the car Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I've seen the spec list of the car that shows the cost and description of the DP II system, amongst other things.

Have you put your VIN in the LR topix site? I think that shows the exact build or speak to the supplying dealer to confirm

Are you sure its not a SE that had a HST kit glued on?

Appart from that, I doubt you can do anything about it Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yes I just entered my VIN and there is no mention of any PLII system. Well, it definitely hasn't got the surround sound and there are no speakers in the rear pillars... there isn't any sound coming from the centre speaker either. I'll follow it up with the supplying dealer.

Yes it's definitely not a SE with a kit on.

Many thanks for your responses though.

Centre speaker is only on the HSE with DBII, just a grill on all others

To be honest your not missing much, my HSE with it, listen to a audio book it comes out of the centre speaker, music through dab radio is alright, but not surround sound, as I recall it will on,y play in surround sound via the aux lead

But put a movie on via the iPad or iPhone, connected to the aux, it blast out surround sound brilliantly Cool Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Nitpinks - I relise that now but I've always though as HST / HSE been top spec with the HST with a sporty take and the HSE more classy.

No, HSE is top of range, the used to be SE XS GS S, with the HST around SE (which was dropped)

Now it's a bit different with the dynamic and HSE Lux in the line up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
