Buying Used from Dealer 200 miles Away

Seen the FL2 I would like but the dealer is 200+ miles away.

Has anyone been able to get a local dealer to get the car delivered to them and they took delivery locally?

BJ

Unnecessary quote removed

My local dealer is a separate group from the dealer which has the car I am interested in.

I will contact the selling dealer directly and see what the way forward is.

Thanks Bryan

We bought our first FL2 58 plate TD4s from Stratstones at Hanley 4 months ago, 240 mile round trip for me. Did the deal over the phone. Drove down, part ex'd vehicle & drove landy away. All in the same day Smile Negotiated a spare wheel in the deal too. Wasn't fitted when I arrived, had them put it in writing it was to follow. 6 weeks later & 4 phone calls later, still no spare wheel. 2 complaint letters later, finally received it Laughing

There was a similar landy at a Stratstones locally to me, but was 6 months older & was missing it's first two service stamps. So gave that one a miss, neither did they seem helpful with regards to bringing in other vehicles from their other branches for me to view. I'm really pleased I held out for the FL2 I have now. Landy has now gone.

I assume you paid a deposit over the phone and that the money was refundable if the vehicle was not satisfactory.

Interesting you could drive back same day with new car. This is what I was concerned about, perhaps having to make two trips down and back.

I will contact dealer and see how we go.

Thanks Bryan

I did my purchase over the phone and email with sponsors LPR

Everything was as described, but then it's down to how much you trust the dealer selling to you, or atleast the salesman

I dealt with James then but he now works for sponsors Hadley Green, so I'll try there next Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

personally I would never buy a used car over the phone without seeing it first.

just another one of my idiosyncratic traits Laughing

My son in Aberdeen bought his BMW 325 over the phone to a garage in York without ever seeing it in the metal. They delivered it up to Aberdeen for him on the understanding that if it wasn't as described he could get a refund on his 100 pounds deposit. The poor wee delivery man then had to drive back to York in Andrew's very tired old Focus Smile

We bought my wife's BMW from a main dealer in Dundee, about a 3.5hrs drive from here. We did go to see it in the first place but they delivered it through here for us when it was ready.

Was looking for a landy for a few months, this one came up at the right price with the right mileage. Paid a £100 deposit over the phone. Was refundable if it wasn't what we were expecting when we arrived, it was. Apart from the lack of spare wheel. Paid the full amount on the day, minus the part ex'd vehicle. Landy has now gone.
