Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I have only had my FL 2 since Feb last year. I normally change
my own engine oil, but have had it changed at the local garage BECAUSE I CANNOT FIND THE
FILTER............Where the hell is it?

It seems to be rather a bother to get to then??? So the £27 my local charged me seems quite a
bargain! assuming they changed the filter!!

considering the filter is £15ish from LR, 6 litres of fully synthetic oil is £20, and the magic spanner is £12 then £27 is a bargain. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

I guess the £27 was just to change the filter... i.e the oil was extra! John

Just finished my first LR2 oil/filter change ,oil no problem 2 minute job,the filter......who designed or decided that it was a great idea to stick there? The recommendation of the 27mm ratchet spanner was spot on (couldn't do it without),thanks.makes you wonder how many filters actually get changed or just left and filled with new oil???

I have recently done mine. Yes it is a right faff to do but I guess that is the price you pay when LR use an off-the-shelf PSA engine in a body that JLR designed. The 27mm ring ratchet is a must! John

Hi all

Changed my oil filter and replaced oil at weekend just gone, started off as a bit of nightmare but once I Sussed it out it was actually pretty straight forward, I found it easier to remove oil filter cap from the top using my left hande to guide the ring spanner on nut correctly and my right hand to undo as I had a few inches to work with, seems to have a long thread and was never ending but once in the rythem it was fine also found it difficult to get filter housing out from engine compartment had to replace o ring while in place.. Any tips for next time on that one. Think I will cut down my spanner as it was an inch or two too long I don't think I will need the open end part of the spanner for anything else anyway.

Removing the big plastic intercooler pipe that runs down the centre of the rad helps a lot with access, though even that requires a bit of effort getting it off and back on, that allowed me to get the filter out. The ratchet spanners a definite plus too. Once the filter housing is loose enough to turn by hand, you can stand at the side of the vehicle, get your arm in there and unscrew it with your right hand fairly easily.

Duckworths do a service kit oil,fuel,air & pollen filter for £55
