Reduced engine performance light?

I've owned my first Freelander 2 TD4S for around 4 months now. It's on a 58 plate with 66k on the clock with flsh. Over the last few days the reduced engine performance light has appeared, on an intermittent basis. Landy goes into limp mode. I have used a code reader on it, but has come up with no fault codes stored. Which may or may not be a fault of the code reader.
If the REPL appears would there deff be a code or codes stored? Any advice to cause?
Have 2 months remaining on Landrover used car warranty.
Many thanks. Landy has now gone.

REPL covers a multitude of problems, not all of which will result in an error code being generated/stored. Could be a fuel related issue such as diesel waxing or a problem with fuel flow which would require dealer investigation.

Thanks for the info.
The fuel filter was changed on it's last service. Light out at the moment. Suppose if no faults stored, light may have to be on all the time for land rover to have a look under warranty? Was -7 today in my neck of the woods. Coldest day since we've owned the Landy.
Neither am I really up on d's, more petrol engines. Landy has now gone.

I would take it in to the dealer now to get the 'problem' registered on their system before the warranty runs out. They will probably report no fault found but if it happens again you have proof its a repeat problem.

I had the same problem and same message so checked fault codes and found that throttle body valve was stuck. It comes from time to time.

I rang my local stealers today. They said they'd charge me £100 for a diagnostic check. If any codes stored & it was a warranty fault, I could then claim it back under warranty. If not, then it's up to me Shocked

After having a think about it, not wanting to waste my money. Realised I had Land Rovers Assist along with my warranty. Gave them a ring tonight, as Landy now in limp mode. They're coming out tomorrow, have diagnostic equipment on board. So will check for stored codes, if a warranty fix. Will aurthorise repair with local dealer. My fingers are crossed it will be a warranty repair.

Hoping some codes are stored & that my plug & play code reader is the issue.

At a guess thinking EGR fault or fuel filter issue.

I will post again with an update.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Landy has now gone.

Did you clean it out? Use carb cleaner? Landy has now gone.

Landrover Assist guy came, ran a diagnostic check, downloaded an update for the DOF software and bingo - all is well. Questioned him on Landrover reliability and he said it was impressive against our 'Premium' brands. I crawled all over his Discovery - that is my next car!!

Pleased your sorted Smile Land Rover Assist due to arrive at mine in around an hour, hope it's as easy a fix as yours. Only had our Freelander 2 for 4 months. I'll keep you posted. Landy has now gone.

Apologies DOF should have read DPF. Boroboy I have been fortunate to drive many cars, BMW, Audi, VW etc and I can honestly say that the FL2 is by far the most enjoyable. If they could sort the annoying rattles out I would not look further than a Landrover again. My next car will be a Discovery!

Glad you are sorted Thumbs Up
Very unlucky that you have rattles, mine has been trouble and rattle free for two years, long may it continue. Smile
