I can (easily) see a DC100-based crossover - effectively filling the FL1's slot now the FL2 has gone more up-market.

What I haven't seen yet is anything which is remotely plausible as a Defender replacement. Everything is just too car-like, too complex, too vulnerable. Where's the workhorse you can hose out after the sheep have cr***** in the back? Or drive through a thicket without worrying about damaging £1000 plastic bumpers and wing extensions? Where's the vehicle which will withstand being driven across the desert by a lead-footed squaddie? Where's the car which can be fixed by the village blacksmith when it breaks down in the depths of Africa?

Or are LR just giving up on those markets?

Or, are they going to stop selling the Defender in Europe, where it doesn't meet safety standards, but continue to manufacture it in China for sale in non-European markets?

In my view the defender is iconic and should be kept. It is a bit like when the Royal Mail spent 60 million quid rebranding itself to ' Consignia' and after it was a flop changed its name back to - Royal Mail !!! The defender needs updating for sure including airbags, better economy / aerodynamics, refinement options etc and increased space for the larger humans that we now are but looks wise they would be utter fools to change it radically in my view. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green
Evoque SD4 Auto Blue.
FL1 HSE TD4 Manual Black - Gone.
RR Classic V8 EFI - Gone
