Reading this thread I thought I would add my woes. HSE 09 plate 22,000 mls. So far, one new torque converter, two starter motors, rear discs plates and new key fob.
It viberates so much I have mounted the front seats on one inch rubber blocks.

6 months and 6,000 miles (that's high for me)

Nothing go wrong except some "silly" woman crashing into the side of the car, but hopefully it will be fixed soon and I am popping down to the local garage to see if it needs a new door.

Lets hope I will have trouble-free motoring.

Mine's now at 29,470 miles with second service booked for next week, no faults or breakdowns and haven't needed to add any oil since the last service.

93,000 miles (149,000 kms) stacks of it on horrible dirt roads. No dealer services since 36,000 kms. On my 3rd set of tyres (near new) and second set of brake pads, original everything else except....whining diff replaced at 80,000 kms and steering rack flushed at 120,000 kms. The car is 4.5 years old. The diff never let me down it was just noisy. When they did the diff they stuffed the Haldex so they replaced that as well. I have extended warranty till September or 200,000 kms. I can honestly say I have given this car a real thrashing (in a tender sort of way ) and it has come through better than I could have hoped for. The best car I have owned.

March 15 2011 SD4 HSE, now 43,000km (26,700mi). Lumbar support not working at delivery, fixed immediately. Since then, apart from windscreen (outback Queensland roads) and driver's window glass (outback NSW roads - so not the car's fault, just stones from idiots coming the other way not slowing down when passing), nothing wrong at all.
Zip. Nada.

Second set of tyres @ 21,000km (13,000m - OEM Conti 19" UHP C/C wear was crap on dirt/gravel roads - 21,000km and they became dangerous), Hankook Ventus AS will be replaced with the same, anticipate probably at around odo 50,000-60,000Km, so near double the life of the Contis. Brakes are still 60%+.

Fuel was 8.2 l/100km 10,000-20,000 (34.45mpg), 7.9 l/100Km 20,000 to 30,000Km (35.76mpg), 7.5 l/100Km 30,000 to 40,000KM (37.66mpg), currently indicating 7.4 l/100Km (38.17mpg) since then. It appears that the engine is still running in!

Apparently has faulty driver's right foot - very heavy on the accelerator (has seen air under all four tyres on more than one occasion apart from when on the service hoist). Outback cattle grids make excellent launch ramps.

I love my FL2!

Had my second service done (FREE ), fault free 2 years and 29,547 miles.
No problems at all, disc pads still at 9mm front and 8mm rear, just an amber for wiper blades smearing which I'll replace soon

Now completed 43,000miles. Rear brakes seized, handbrake seized on. Had to call LR Assist to help get car mobile. This has required new discs, pads, brake shoes. Handbrake and adjusters seized but have now been free'd off. Total bill--£464. Garage advised that same problem in another FL2 just as few weeks ago.

I would suggest that owners ask service agents to strip and clean brakes at services as this may avoid the seizure problems and save a fair bit of cash in the long run.

Just another disappointment on what should be a good car!

- various squeks and rattles from doors but I doubt if that fixable.

Really enjoy the car but not convinced I will have another one. I was spoiled on Audi and BMW before LR and I miss the built in quality of those makes.

What tyres were you using, most of us get between 30k and 40k on a set
Even Contis which don't wear well I got 28k out of them.

I dont know what were used before I got it. Records show they were fitted
at Kwik Fit, each time. When I bought it, it had, and still has got Goodyear
Wranglers on it. I assume they were fitted each time. Althought the mileage
is high, it is immaculate. I cannot understand how they got through tyres so
quick. Records show there was a change within 6 months at one stage. I have
complete service history which even records when a minor thing like a bulb was
changed. All servicing was carried out at a registered LR dealer. Still the
original clutch!!

Always using Kwik Fit Could it have been a lease car, some lease companies won't have puncture repairs done and fit new tyres regardless of the wear, hence the market for part worns on the bay

Hi all, can I add to GSMY11 notes.
I've just sorted my back brakes today.
The design of the FL2 handbrake is appalling and antique and suffers from corrosion inside the brake drum part of the disc, the adjusters have insufficient grease lubricant, the cast steel of the handbrake drum corrodes like mad until there is a bubbly crud which the brake shoe buffs up to an inneffective grip surface hence a crappy handbrake, the initiator linkeage from the cable siezes on the pivot so the handbrake is fully siezed.

HOWEVER is not just a LR problem. Ive been servicing Vauxhalls for years and remember this design in the Vauxhall Carlton and the later Omega. It must be used within many other car manufacturers models
The problem has to be addressed to the Brake design, supply and manufacturing companies, its their fault for not using their design knowledge and using proper materials for the 21st century.

If an alternative material for the disc was chosen with inherrent anti corrosion nature AND alternative materials chosen for the brake adjuster components then we wouldnt have these problems.

In the meantime whilst we have this design I consider it a must to remove the disc yearly to buff off the rust with an abrasive flapwheel; I also always strip the threaded adjuster first time around and treat it to copperslip grease. 2010GS Auto ex Celeb, Santorini Black, 2011 facelift , spoiler, spats, mudflaps, LED footwell lamps, Witter detach,
