Proves that it's not meant for that, it had to be thrashed at breakneck speed just to keep going. An owner would not be happy with a day's off roading ending in hundreds of pounds damage, of course they didn't have to worry about that.
What owner would put their car through that? knowing it will come out with bits hanging off it, and they won't have to clean the intercooler.

driver error for me
OK you want to get to the top of the hill, you are with a Defender - good so far, not wise to off-road on your own.

Why would you folow in the Defenders wheel tracks?
The previous car has already dug ruts, your in a Land Rover make your own tracks, don't sink into someone else's.
You don't have low range so don't pussy foot around, momentum is your friend - tell the Defender to get a Censored move on. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

My old man did the LR meeting in those moors, it's around auchterader if I remember correctly and said it was the bees knees.

And what Roger Craythorne doesn't know about off roading isn't worth knowing!

As a side note, any LR or jag that is for sale through the dealer network with a reg plate beginning 'O' is an ex LR/jag company car. But they also get given to clowns like this road tester, JLR sports academy kids etc. And I wouldn't go near one. They get ragged silly for the first 6 months of their lives! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

I believe they are destroyed after Land Rover use, many of the ex LRE cars reg numbers no longer show up as registered when you check.
Maybe they refurb and re register?

wow... they really thrashed it... It almost makes a moot point seeing as if you put underbody protection and AT tyres on any 4 wheel drive car, then give it defender support you would get it up the hill?

These cars you talk about are the test miles, usually wearing some form of camo as they're pre-production and not subject to VAR, that's why they have to be destroyed.

The ones I mention, such as the top gear one in the video won't be destroyed and will be put for general sale. I had 2 jags negotiated as sponsorship in my last job, the person I worked for gets a new one every 6 months so jag can sell them without losing too much money Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
