Hi, love this road in Galloway. Closed in the winter, but I'm temped to give it a go out of season.

I've done the Raiders' Road a few times in the past - albeit the last time was probably at least 10 years ago. It's a nice scenic drive, and well worth a visit, but note that it's not going to challenge a Focus let alone a Freelander. |

One of next years hols we will be staying with the 'van' on the shores of Loch Earn, north of Callander. The wife has plans for walking the 'Rob Roy Way' and that will leave me on the look out for a few scenic trails. If anyone knows of any scenic drives in the area that are away from the normal traffic, please let me know. |

No. You have to go around the top of Loch Long and down the far side of Loch Fyne. The drive I'm talking about runs from the A83, westwards to Loch Awe. No challenge for my Freelander at all last summer but might be interesting in the winter especially with the weather we've been having. |
