Dog in the Freelander.

I quite like the look of the genuine LR dog guard. Full height, that comes with the pet divider cage.

Does anyone have any experinece of this? Or any other suggestions?

Cheers

Dan.

Hi Dan

The back of last car was ruined by muddy Spaiels, so when we got the Freelander I purchased one of these

http://www.transk9.com/index.php/dog_cage/...er_2_2007/

Best bit if kit I have ever bought, light enough to lift in and put, keeps all the mud and water contained and great for filling with the weekly shop, as it doesn't fall all over the place Thumbs Up

Plus there based over in SW Scotland at Castle Douglas , so you could always arrange to pop in and have a look, really nice people and very helpful

I've always avoided full height guards as in the event that the rear door cannot be opened (rear end shunt or just failure of opening mechanism) you cannot get your dog out without damaging something.

I use a Travall half height guard with a full load liner. This liner goes up the sides of the load area and also up the rear of the seats. It also has a flap that covers the bumper to avoid scratches on entry/exit.

This arrangement has the added advantage that you can fold down part or all of the rear seats if you want to carry a long load. The liner has zips which allows the split rear seat facility to be used.

Full height dog guard fitted as standard to mine.
Good quality piece of kit, wouldn't be without it as I carry a lot of expensive kit, that would A) be a hazard if it came forward at speed, B) be sadly missed if some Censored decided they had more righ to it than me.

Had a rear shunt at >70mph a while back, rear door was easy to open, so if dogs had been in their they would have been safe and easy to extracate.

Not the easieast to remove - takes a few minutes after you have completely emptied the boot.

SWMBO would have a fit if I suggested that the dog went in the back.

Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Andy

can see why your dog doesn't go in the back, but its a different story with our Springer

He always seems to find the Mud Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

Thats why the the Dog Box comes in handy, usually gets hosed off when we get. especially if there's no becks or ponds near by.

Mind you he'e not that bad looking when he knows the cameras about

About five miles from me. I've just left them a voicemail. I don't want something huge. He's only a Bedlington Terrier and I want to be able to use the boot to its full extent.

Can the box be used in the house. He has a tatty tent type thing which he's had since being a puppy. I could do with repalcing it.

Dan.

The dog guard supplied by Britpart is the travall dog guard, but can be bought from most LR parts suppliers for a lot less than from travall.

The Travall one is very good, fits in seconds no drilling or screwing, very secure, never moves and removed quicker than the time spent fitting it. Thumbs Up

I spoke to transk9. They hope to have the smaller FL2 box in stock by next week.

We need to take a trip over that way to check on things at our place over there, stock up in Badnoch, buy smoked mussels cheese etc, plus give the new truck a decent run so I hope to pop in in person and buy one.

Thanks for the advice.

Will do.

I like to buy lial when I can in Galloway.

I've a big probem with people holidaying in a place and contributing nothing to the local economy. I bought my MX-5 from Border Cars Dumfries, and they nearly sold me a Kia Sorento, though good sense prevailed in the end. 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE

Hi, picked up the TransK9 box yesterday.

Quite a robust bit of kit.

Thanks for the advice.
