Which of these 3 iPod connections

Which one of these 3, in your humble opinion, is the best solution :

a) Kensington FM transmitter - sends the track name/artist to the radio display. Charges the iPod at the same time. I already use this and am fine with it, although wonder if I could get better audio quality with b) or c)

b) 3.5,mm -> 3.5mm jack from Aux port on centre console to iPod. Upsides - uses built in hardwired connectivity. Wonder whether this will provide decent audio. Downsides - it will not charge the iPod so will need a separate charge cable to the 12V socket - which means 2 cables to connect

c) 3.5mm aux to iPod connector - see http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=99543&doy=26m3. Supposedly privides better audio (can this be confirmed?) Cannot charge iPod at all as it uses the same socket.

I'm not forking out for the LR iPod connectivity kit - it isn't worth spending that sort of money IMHO, when I'm ok with my FM transmitter, as I like the track displayed but it would be nice to make use of the built in aux port but not if there are more downsides than upsides. Thoughts.? Chris

I use a 3mm lead to the Aux port when i want to connect my iPod, I do however have 6 cd's full of mp3's in the cars cd changer, each disc has around 12 albums on

I think this is by far the best way as you don't have a £100+ iPod on display with a chance to forget to remove it and the easter egg thief comes back to have music in the ears of his chocolate covered face Very Happy

The nice adapter i have seen is Annesley23 Belkin adapter (he looks to have a iPhone, but i think this is compatable with iPods')

My old iPod mini used a FM tramsmitter which was ok, but not as good as a lead, but things have progressed since i got mine. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

You only need a 3.5mm jack - 3.5mm jack, although this setup wont allow you to skip through tracks from the head unit, display track names, or charge your ipod.

Sound quality is ok, I usually have the radio on though. The future's bright, the future's........Tambora Flame!!! Thumbs Up

I have the Tuneflex with a Nano and can highly recommend it. Using the 3.5mm aux connection produces a great sound - far better than the FM transmitters ever achieve.

The 3.5mm socket is placed low down on the plug of the Tuneflex which means that the wires can be hidden away along the side of the centre console. I would also advise using a 3.5mm cable with right angle connectors - this avoids the plug sticking out too far.

Only downside is the ipod screen is out of the drivers eye line and therefore not safe to read on the move. I usually have mine on shuffle so not much of an issue for me, but please be careful!

I have never purchased anything on Itunes, so i am not too sure as i purchase a CD and then copy it to itunes

Make sure the files are mp3's and they are written to the cd as data is my 2 pence worth

Although i beleive downloaded music is a AAC format which stops it from been played on anyother mp3 player than a iPod

Somebody will give better help than that i am sure Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Ipod

npinks likes mine. Thank you.

I purchased the Belkin transmitter. Really good, i actually use it with an ipod touch. It comes with brackets to use with every ipod, so if your like me and have seven of these different models around the house it helps.

It has a transmitter built in which is the best i've heard (hardly any crackle) but also has an auxillary plug on it.

This is a fantastic bit of kit and solved my need for my ipod to be charged and to be accessible.

I think it works great with the ipod touch and looks really cool at night. It would work well with iphone i think.

Just seen it at Dabs.com for £29.95 Freelander 2 HSE Auto TD4. Privacy Glass. DAB Radio. Upper Chrome Mirror Covers. Tread Plates Front/Back. Cargo Net. SafeGuard, Santorini Black, Moon Roof
