I see that a Welsh council is issuing its parking wardens with tape measures so that any car parked more than 19 inches from the kerb will be issued with a 70 quid fine!. Fair play I think on the bad parking issue but the fine I think is steep. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Dave is 19 inches tall so he can easily test his parking, if he can lie down between kerb and wheel its time to re-climb the step ladders and move his car further in At work |

It's high time some politicians grew a pair and re-evaluate the fines in general, most are too lenient and simply ignored.

I agree with the politicians re-evaluating the fines. I take my lad to school in a morning on the way to work, I always park very close to the kerb in a considerate manor. There is a childminder who has an Volvo XC90, she always looks to abandon it a couple of feet from the kerb making the narrow road more narrow! I'm not sure how the council can enforce such rules? Would it be a civil fine or is there a law relating to it, I read the article in the Express bit it didnt go into great detail.

May not be a law but impeding the normal flow of traffic is a good one to use. Used for folks going dog slow on the motorway or hogging the middle/outside lane.

The Law does not specify an exact amount of how far, (or near in either feet /inches meter,s/millimeters)one should park from the kerb, might it be good fun to have one owns measuring stick/device in whatever calibrated distance handy in the door pocket .???

Or what would happen if you didnt park square to the kerb? Say one wheel was 20 inch from the kerb, the other 18 inch? Would they average it out? |
