United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black
Christmas Eve delivery.....checking in to say Hi.

Hi,

Just making my first post to say hello. I took delivery yesterday (Christmas Eve) of a a Santorini Black SD4 HSE with ebony leather, privacy glass, black bits inside instead of wood and a full sized spare.

Its a 2013 model - from stock. I'd not have bothere with privacy glass and a full sized spare but there you go.

I'm coming to Land Rover from 5 years with a Mazda CX-7 2.3 petrol - which I love, and am keeping in the family.

190 BHP seems fine. The Mazda was 258. The car is all lovely and new with a LR warranty. I do have a hankering afer a JE Engineering remap.

I am based in Newcastle, North East England, and having had good experience with MGF and TFs that I have owned, I think Team Valley Land Rover - run by the tow Grahams - may be the place for servicing.

I am a bit of a geek when it comes to finding stuff out about my cars, so stand-by for lots of questioned about the L359.

Nice car sir!
Hopefully I'll be joining the FL2 fold next year. I keep looking & configuring "my car" on the Land Rover website.

Welcome Thumbs Up

Full size spare is hugely underrated...when you're in the middle of the highlands with a puncture on a Sunday night then you realise the value of it Thumbs Up

Just a word of warming, don't say if you do get a map...LR customer services monitor this and won't be impressed.

Nice to have another enthusiast, how do you think the Freelander compared to the Mazda? Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'd not be doing any mods to it until it was out of warranty. That's why I bought a new car afterall.

Just need to get a dog guard and cage. I used to strap the little guy into the back seat of my other car. This is too nice to me covered in paws, puke and God knows what else he drags into the car.

I've looked around at options, but think seeing as its a nice new car, I will stick to the LR designed bits.

Good idea, original equipment always fits better than aftermarket.

Nice to have another enthusiast, how do you think the Freelander compared to the Mazda?[/quote]

I've not had t on a proper run yet, but the one thing I will say is Auto transmission. Why did I not get it years ago?

The Mazda is 5 years old and like a pair of comfortable shoes. I will mis the out and out grunt of a 2.3 litre turbo petrol delivering 260ish BHP.

The Landy is smaller, but makes up for it with all the luxury. Everything is better quality, leather, plastics and the like, though the Mazds at 60k doesn't rattle or squeak at all.

I love the Spen King echoes in the design, sitting high up with the castelated bonnet edges, makes you feel like you just might be driving a classic Rangey.

It doen't care about pot holes does it? Though there is a decent bit of body roll in the corners.

The Mazda has a great Bose sound system. The Freelander seems to have ine just as good if not better.

I really need to get it over to Galloway in some horrible weather to put it through its paces. The Mazda is great for quick overtaking of trucks on the A75. Thats my only real concern now.

The Mazda is staying in the family. I can't part with it so its going to be on permenant loan to my 2000 mile a year Father in Law, who will lokk after it.

In 2007 when I bought the Mazda I looked at getting a new FL2 HSE. It was just out of my price range fr the V6 petrol, and Mazda were offering a great deal, so I went with them. I often wondered if I should have stretched to getting one then.

Wildcat, you will soon get used to overtaking, simply put the box in sport mode, no need for kickdown, just a good squeeze on the accelerator and she will fly, diesels are different to petrols, no need to rev it to bits to get it to go, between 2000 - 3000 and its a powerful ol' motor.
The A75 is a pig of a road, you take care on there.

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Barolo Black

I was going to say Ive come to a freelander 2 from a 2010 mitsubishi lancer ralliart I bought brand new in black with black leather and tons of extras I have to say the sst paddle gearbox was a delight and an absolute flying machine with around 240bhp and 4wd sharing engines with the evo but unfortunately last year the winds blew some ridge tiles from my roof and onto the lancers aluminium bonnet. Crying or Very sad despite paying over £1000 for its repair it nver looked perfect again so It went. Big Cry

So after a mk1 freelander sport 2 mitsubishi animal pickups 1 new 3.2 shogun warrior before the lancer I thought I would try something a bit higher up again.

Anyhow I picked up a secondhand black freelander 2 auto with 35k miles on and full leather a few weeks before christmas as I needed a car since losing my leg in a motorcycle accident and bought the landrover on a bit of a whim as I needed my mobility back plus needed a 4wd as the weather seems to be getting worse year after year.

Anyhow Ive been totally astonished how well the car drives for a 4x4 and how nippy is moves down the road I dont thinks anyone could say the car is slow the freelander is all the car I want these days the kids love it and its ultra smooth sends them to sleep in an instant Bow down Thumbs Up .
