Haha - I wish I could see the light Very Happy

I've tried both ends but to no avail. The whole lense is totally flush with no obvious screwdriver points.

I used a feeler gauge. You don't want to lever them out, just use the feeler gauge to release the spring clip, then pull out.
Having said that, the led's won't work on my 61 plate FL2, they just give a little flash then go off. Weird, because the footwell one's work fine.

Maybe it's because the footwell lights work that the puddle lights don't. By that I mean (not having looked at the wiring diagram) that they may be on the same circuit.

I discovered this anomaly when sorting out my wife's Peugeot 307cc rear lights. The stop/tail lights on it are LED and one side had packed up. A bit odd because one light is in the bodywork and the other in the opening boot lid. However, I noticed that the number plate light on the same side was also out. I changed the number plate light bulb (standard incandescent filament bulb) and all lights then worked. It seems the number plate light filament acts as resistor which enables the stop/tail LEDs to work. Weird system! John

YAY Mr. Green

It worked using something flat and wide as Pinks said. I used a common old knife from the kitchen - the Mrs suggested my foot!

Anyway, I pushed it straight up on the outer end of the mirror and the lens just popped out Thumbs Up

It looks like I was trying to pry off the actual clear lens part and have a crack in the drivers door one. Took pictures as it has a part number but I'll see how I get on with it as it is.

Thanks guys... buy yourself a drink on me Wink

I am now LED'd up on the outside - well, side lights and puddle lights. It looks great.

wizking: I used Fizzmo LEDs as suggested by The Doctor. Canbus error free for all my lights. I read there's no need for Canbus on the puddle lights but they were so cheap it was worth getting just in case.

i don't like the led lights only the side lights as i like the warm glow when you unlock the car its inviting whereas the led's seem clinical, I don't know how they work with the reflective plastic as i'm sure my puddle lights give out more light with standard filament bulbs When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

I've got an S model FL2. Can lights be fitted to the wing miror? I looked under the wing mirror and theres a rectangular outline where the light should go, does this push out? Also, being the base model will the wiring be there? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Mirror lights for a 2010GS

Has anybody fitted mirror lights to a GS?
Does anybody know how much wiring for them is already in the car and how much is missing?
Are they run in parralell with the puddle lamps?
If I add them does it confuse the Canbus and need dealer intervention?
Lots of questions but surely one of you has some or all the answers.

I have thought about fitting them to mine, as far as I know the wiring isn't normally there, but sometimes it might be, its one of those look and see moments. If you have some wiring there could be an easy test, open door and connect up a multimeter.

For the mirror lights I would assume you need the different mirror (or shell if its available) if you have no wiring should be able to work it out by looking at the wiring diagrams on the forum. Not checked in detail but I assume they run off the interior light circuit so might not be a massive task to wire up. If you don't have them I would start with the foot well lights, then if that all goes to plan take connections from there to the door lights, and finally the mirror lights.

Jon

Edit: Most importantly, document everything and take loads of pictures so we can all have a go! Freelander 2, 2014 Dynamic SD4 Santorini Black
