Sorry, one more question. what is best for cleaning the 19" shadow Chrome rims. Should you use something different because of their finish?

I might add that is I found a used car for sale with modded front end etc I would be suspicious that it had been crashed or stolen and stripped for parts at some time. I would buy it eventually but not without some more confirmations of its history, This weighs against the fact that if it is genuine its obviously from a car nut and will be a good buy.

modding also points towards possible re-mapping causing a few alarm bells

just balancing my opinions, I'm undecided now Confused

a tatty modded car - never buy
a tidy one - buy, after a extra history check

but at the end of the day its grey so I'm out

Thats a fair point CG, thats why I always take pictures of any changes I make so any future buyer will see it is not a result of accident damage.

I have still got the original parts I took off! So I could put it all back to standard, with the exception of the tailgate handle, and all the invoices from the parts bought! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Cheers,

any acid free wheel cleaner will suffice,

I use Wolfs Chemical Decon Gel, it dissolves all the brake residue and iron particles on the wheels (and bodywork), really good when its been baked on, though might need a few applications to completely get rid

After a bit of searching on cleaning (not normal for me), I'm guessing you used a snow foam or magifoam.? '08 Freelander 2 HSE in Stornoway Grey

That's it, but snow foam is only used to remove the surface loose dirt, you still needs to wash it afterwards. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Nice work... I think it looks real good! I wanted to ask about your insurance co... which insurer are you with and did they load the premium heavily?

Thanks! ...

I was charged a little for the wheels and exhaust and re-map, about 10% if I remember correctly, but the facelift, interior trim, side steps and all the other detail upgrades were just noted on the policy as 'informed' as they did not command a premium increase.

Gees you really are a Freelander fanatic. Thoroughly enjoyed reading your auto biography. You have great taste. Nothing was over the top.

Can you please provide more details on the Alpine DVD system? Did you send the headrests away to the auto trimmers to get the screens installed or did you buy the headrests from the dealers? Also, how did you do the wiring?? 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Orkney - waiting!

One of my friends does leather re-trims for a living so he mounted the screens and re-trimmed the headrests. He then removed the seats to feed the screen cable through the seat and out of the bottom.

Wiring wise, it is pretty easy, the 6 disc DVD player is earthed under the seat, then powered by an ignition live. The same with the screen brain box. Then the DVD player is connected to the screen brain box with the usual phone type leads.

The trick bit though was getting the sound through the car speakers. We took the audio output from the DVD and converted it to a jack plug and plugged it in to the AUX input on the centre console. But hid it under the console, so it looks like the AUX is still there but it is not connected to anything.

Movies in surround sound in the car sound great! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
