My old TD4 (160bhp) did about 33 mpg, my current TD4 (150bhp) is currently doing 40mpg.

What sort of journeys and driving technique to achieve 40mpg? * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

Mostly long runs on dual carriageway at 65 mph.
Car has now done 22000 miles and is returning its best fuel consumption figures.

On shorter journeys on single lane roads with stop start traffic it drops to 37-38.

Did a run back from Switzerland in February with 2 pairs of skis on the rook, not on the autoroute and got 38 mpg which I was pretty happy with.

You will probably not see the best fuel consumption until you've done around 10000 or more miles but should get 36 - 38 if you don't push it too much.
