I had a blue 2008 A4 Avant. Love the colour, I think it really suited it.

100% correct, they are a strorming car to drive, one of the last cars designed so that you enjoy driving it rather than do a journey in it and the new 8 speed autobox 2.0 litre diesels are fantastic, in the last few months i've tried all the following diesels, Audi TT, Jag XF, BM 3 and 5, Audi A4 A5,A6 and Q5 , and EWOK all are great but only the BM and Audi made financial sense to me as my company car ,

strange how car brands divide and opinionate , but the truth is when a company runs a one make policy with no employee opt out you never see anybody say " I wouldn't be seen dead in that" 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I made one huge mistake by having another Audi. They are the most over rated cars ever. Roll on 2 years when I can order my next car.

It won't be another bloody Audi! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Interesting you say that, i was just reading a road test on the latest A5, they commented that reliability needs to be addressed, that came as a shock.
I start a new job in January, they are paying me the same allowance I currently get that pays for the Freelander, although I think they want to steer me towards their car scheme.
Not to say I can't have an FL though, depends how I do Whistle

By complete contrast, I am one of only 2 employees that opted out of our fleet deal. The company cars are currently either A4's or Passat CC's, (neither of which appeal) and they are looking at canning them altogether and paying an allowance for 2013, rather than continue leasing. It'll be interesting to see what other colleagues turn up in if they confirm that this is the route that they will be taking! Foraging near Gaydon....

I'm glad you enjoy them. I've driven a few current 3 Series BMW's over the last 5 or 6 years years and I've never failed to be disappointed by the fabled driving dynamics, especially the lifeless steering and that rough, old school, 2 litre diesel; it's all highly reminiscent of driving a 4 door Vauxhall Chevette Wink

It's not all bad though; provided that you can live with the sky high RRP for the "Efficient Dynamics" cars, the official CO2 output figures are very low for BIK purposes, the very newest 3 Series has finally become a good looking car and with the same styling used for the current 5 Series, there's even a life sized version available that you can fit adults inside too! Very Happy

I swapped my first Freelander 2 for a 3 series touring in 08(moment of madness in the credit crunch)
First bad winter in years, getting stuck on a flat road sealed it for me, after 11 months back
in a Freelander 2 cursing money wasted on German engineering, I will never buy a rear wheel drive

Come on guys!! You are moaning about FL2 lease rates compared to a 3 series touring and Audi Estate!!! If you want to make a true comparison then check out lease prices on a BMW X3 and an Audi Q5 - then its a fair fight! Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
Gone - 2014 BMW X3 M Sport Space Grey, faultless!
Gone - 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Bali Blue with xenons
Gone - 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Rimini Red with bodykit

Lets be serious gents (and ladies)
You get a lease car you get a new vehicle every 3 years, as long as it survives the couldn't care less attitude of the dealer that services it - because he knows it's not yours, and the tightfisted attitude of the lease company - no new brake pads because ther is 0.5mm left, or they won't replace the slipping clutch until it eventually fails at 10pm on a wet Friday night on a back road in deepest Cumbria.
You get robbed by the Inland revenue for the "pleasure" of driving 30k a year in the cheapest box the accountant could get away with.

Or you can say stuff this for a lark, go self employed, and choose to drive something that gives you pleasure every mile, and claim the cost back via an accountant working on your behalf.

I for one made that choice - and still believe it was the right choice 5 years later. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Dont...........

the amount of time i have arguments, sorry discussion with people moaning about how much there company car costs them in tax... most seem blinkered and have no idea how much its costs to own and run your own new car.

saying that i do get a car allowance... a massive 」58.75 per month!!!!! and i cover 1500 business miles a month

There have been some very valid points on this discussion.

My complaint is the car, not the tax etc.

My A3 is a top spec 」27k car, now although I won't have another, I pay 」136 a month in tax. Now there is now way I could go out and buy, run, tax, insure and service this car for 」136 a month. So I am not complaining on that part.

I really should have chosen the latest Astra Elite, as it is a far better car to drive than the A3, is built just as well and is way way more comfortable! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
