Anyone know of a good replacement engine supplier?
I need a replacement engine for my 2008 FL2 2.2TD4

Any pointers would be appreciated

This is a follow on from my "seized engine" thread on the general topic.

My oil light came on and within 400m total stop.
Garage reckon no compression etc easier to replace than try to re-build. Just neded to know options for replacement engine.
It is now on its way to an independant specialist in Tavistock for second opinion etc. But not looking good think oil pupm packed up. So untold damage

If you want to take a chance there are a few on the bay, from £1750 up, they do say only 11k but do you believe it

Seen a couple think some are off the Pug and the turbo needs swapping over etc My turbo may have had it too?
Unknown how much damage was done after losing all oil pressure etc.
It is off to an independant soon for full look at and then hopefully source a replacement.

i'm just going through the same project of finding an engine. I have bought via ebay from National engine supplies an engine 'straight from the test rig' its definite that its never seen instalation so i'm keeping fingers crossed that my rerplacement engine will be OK. I bought my car from ebay with severe engine knocking.

Now to your specific problem
you mention no compression, this indicated rings / piston failure or cam belt gone and mangled valves, since cambelts are rated to 15,000 miles its unlikely.
Assuming that you were driving then you would know if the oil light came on and assumably you would have pulled over before big damage. if the oil pump had failed then you could not drive far because the hydraulic lifters wouldnt work and you would loose power because the valves would have insufficient lift. Oil pump failure is possible because it has a bycycle chain drive from the crankshaft.
My engine has 34k and failed because the previous owner never had it serviced from new and never topped the oil up so it eventually ran dry. My engine has been run by the old owner in this state, the big ends are k..d but it still runs and drives with good compression. I will have a good block and pistons available soon
