Back in a landrover

Only been out of a landrover for a year and I'm back, sold my much loved disco 3 last year and bought the mrs an evoque (great car) since then I've been running a shogun, but it's got to go, away to pick up a 09 freelander 2 hse today, hope
It's as good as the disco was.

Lookin forward to having two landrovers on the drive.

yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy Thumbs Up When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

"I've been running a shogun, but it's got to go"

Why's that then? I ran one Shogun and two Pajeros but gave them up because of poor fuel consumption, especially when towing. Still miss them though and always think how good they look whenever I see one. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Main reason for shogun going is because of the size and fuel economy. Shogun I had was a swb, and as a work car it's great you cant beat them. But we've just had a baby and trying to get a car seat into the back of a three door car is a nightmare, and then the boot is only big enough for a pint of milk, can't get a pram in.

The best mpg I got from the shogun was around 22 mpg. It had BFG all terrain tyres and looked cool but just not very practical.

Really impressed with the evoque in the resent snow so hopefully the freelander will be as good.

funny you should say that, im seriously considering a 2011 lwb shogun next! or a Landcruiser.
I like the fl2 alot ive had mine over 3.5 years and would recommend to anyone but the latest model is too similar to mine to justify handing over £15k plus mine!, shogun is alot bigger (which i want from my next car), will tow 3.5 ton, supposedly more reliable than a disco and alot cheaper! i realise they are no where near as refined as a disco or RR but i'm not really bothered about that.

I think the newer 2011 shogun are a lot better on fuel than the older ones. They have slightly more bhp so don't have to work as hard, long wheel base shogun would be just as practical as a disco if not better. Your right, if you need something that can tow 3.5 ton and your not wanting the refinement of a disco you can't go far wrong with a shogun.

I was never keen on the freelander, but after driving one I was really impressed. Hopefully it can do all the disco did bit just a little bit smaller!!!

I really don't know how cars with two rows of seats but only front doors pass modern safety standards. The chance of getting trapped following a front-end shunt would frighten me off travelling in the back of any.

I really miss the space in the Shogun (lwb) compared to the Freelander - two sets of golf clubs and electric trolleys is a real squeeze in the FL2, whereas the Mitsi used to swallow three (and sometimes four) with ease, with ample room for up to five passengers as well. Don't miss the fuel economy though!

I think the latest Shoguns beat the Freelanders on looks too - but definitely not the Range Rover or Defender, they're just superb! Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Just getting into the back of a swb shogun is hard, there not really made for 5 people but for two with the seats folded down in van mode they're good. Your right they do like a drink of diesel!!

A lwb shogun and a freelander are not two cars that can be compared against each other, more like disco and mitsu, shogun is a good car but it will ever be a landrover!
