A very large contactor? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

And another thing, after a further research.
Now I can say, without mistaking, that when you change the battery, there is no need to worry and reset anything.
With or without BMS.

Do you refer to the module on the negative terminal?

Although it doesn't make much sense yet.

It's an electronic module that supervises the battery's voltage and its charging status.

There must be a sense from the +ve aslo somewhere.
Seems like a voltage sense system only. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Thanks for that Alex Thumbs Up
Just read the relevent bits quickly. Voltage sense understood.
Current though? It it clever enough to monitor recovery time? And how?
I'll have to do some digging to see if it indeed uses hysteresis.

Many thanks Alex, of great interest to me. I was once involved in battery management a few years ago. But that was a twin battery system. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Santorini Black

Hi all,

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but as my question is battery related I thought I'd ask here.

I own a 2010 GS TD4 e.

I've recently bought a CTEK MXS 7.0 including a cigarette lighter adaptor.

There was a recent post about using the power point in the boot to charge the battery

Am I assuming correctly that the battery in my Freely is a "Lead Acid" type?

If it is, I can give the battery a winter boost.

Cheers

Because yours is a start/stop it will have an AGM battery, you can still trickle charge into the boot socket but make sure the CTEK is switched to AGM. Thumbs Up

It's still a lead/acid battery but the CTEK has a slightly higher charging voltage for this battery type.

Hay Alex,
This tread seems to be causing a bit of a stir. I only posted about the "bms" as it popped up on the meter while having a nose arround the setings Whistle

Just incase anyone was wondering, AGM stands for Absorbed Glass Mat, realy its just another type of battery.

Like a lot of people in the cold mornings sometimes I get the hdc issue being not aval and also the mirrors are quit slow at opening so thought it best to replace the battery as I don't think it has been replaced since new as the car came with a huge history but don't see anything for a new battery, if I disconnect the battery do you leave it off for a while and then reconnect to reset everything? Or is this not true, and as it's not a Eco one will I need to go to lr for reset, or can I save a load of hassle and just connect my little ctek 3.6 and charge it up, if so Is there a recommended length of time to leave on charge? P.s I have put silicone spray on the mirror runners so it's not that with the slow mirrors Regards
J Jenkinson
