Looks like most are on board with this forecast now, including the met office: http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/360201/Now-for-the-big-freeze 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

I wouldn't be surprised if mild suddenly charged back in. However, I believe in your area Dave the likelihood is much higher for snow. Get the rangie ready Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Only some southern parts of the country. We were doing just fine here without the deluge. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

The BBC are always late to report snow and ice. Like 1 hour before Laughing

The met office app on my iphone shows rain and around 5C until Wednesday but the max temp in the day will be 4C, sometimes as low as 2C.

I don't think it will be here by next weekend. Perhaps Scotland and the north east will get some. I would be happier if we at least got some frost. Manky mild needs to go away now Laughing 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

Laughing Thumbs Up

I must say he has been wise to follow my advice and buy some Avon winter tyres Thumbs Up
Maybe I should sign him up to Peak 4x4 response Laughing

You are right in all seriousness about the negatives though wizking. I do like the novelty of snow but it does cause problems. That's why I thought I would help by joining a voluntary response group. Let's face it, nothing any of us say or do will stop it being mild or cold. We just have to deal with whatever it throws at us.

This topic is simply to highlight and discuss the alleged cold snap and what the forecasters say and whether members look forward to snow or hate the stuff Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Very true Doc, it will do what it does. Thumbs Up
I'm off to York next Saturday for a week, so if these forecasts are correct it could be like 2010 all over again when it snowed every day we were there. Have never looked back on owning the Fl2 following that week.

Good point well made. We like the FL2 as a car in its own right but when the going gets tough like it did back then, the FL2 is superb.

Enjoy York Sir but just as a caveat in this winter build up, I have just read online that the polar vortex has split. I have no idea what this means but those in the know online have stated it is a recipe for a prolonged cold winter with mild popping in to briefly say hello now and then. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Bit technical for me, but my understanding is that this allows colder air to move south as opposed to normally being held within the vortex northerly.
