driving licence B + e tests

Right cg before you start this is not for a caravan it is for agricultural machinery transport on a trailer Exclamation

http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/media/1022874...ces-mo.pdf

So after reading this am I right in thinking I don't need a licence for trailers if the vehicle + trailer doesn't exceed 3500kg

http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/lr/freelander-2/explore/s/ The specs state the kerb weight if FROM 1710 so + me lets say its 1800

The recommended towing should not exceed 85% of the vehicles kerb weight so forgive me if my calculations are not correct, 1800kg + 1530 falls shy of the 3500 limit by 170 kg! so can I therefore tow my braked trailer or caravan if it does not exceed 1530kg ? When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

No wrong.

3500 kg combined gross of the outfit (vehicle and trailer) unless you for your licence before whatever the cut off date is (someone clarify the date?)

So fl2 gross is 2505 lg's, which means realistically you can only legally pull 995 kg gross trailer. What the actual weight of the outfit at the time of towing is irrelevant.

I usually 'forget' how to do maths on the days I tow though... Whistle Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

old is good, due to the weather Ive had to abandon my fancy new machinery and use the old fashioned stuff that has been hidden in the nettles for years.

January 1997, if you passed your test after this time you are limited to 3500 MAM

Ballcocks really, you can tow something with a small car and be legal, tow the same trailer with a more suitable tow car I.e. Freelander or Discovery and your to heavy, safer but illegal.

tractors and trailers have a similar thing 24 tonnes gross max, so again a small tractor is legal but a big tractor more capable of handling the load isnt

eg Tractor 8 tonnes trailer 5T = 11 tonne payload, yet a 5 tonne tractor can pull a 14 tonne payload Confused At work

Chris,
How much is the test and what does it involve?

I could do with passing the test myself. Think the chances of being pulled over would be pretty remote as the police around here dont seem to bothered when your taking hay about but I'm thinking more for insurance should I ever be involved in an accident
