Not had my 2.2td4s long. It's on a 58 plate & covered 64k with fsh.
Does it have a timing belt or chain? Salesman form dealers said it had a chain.

Timing belt.

So timing belt kit replacement at 10 years then? Won't reach 150k by then. Any point to changing water pump at same time? Not really up on TD4's, but have done so on my prev petrol vaux's,

Only done 77k so I haven't had the pleasure of replacing the belt, not sure if it's driven by the timing belt - I hope not. Having been caught out by the Octavia a few years ago (timing belt replaced 75k, belt driven water pump failed 80K), if it looks a to get to I will be changing it at the same time.

Just thinking about it, the rubber seals on the pump will be for you 10 years old, anti freeze will be due a change again, why not replace a £40ish pump when it's all stripped down, rather than drive around wondering if you did the right thing.

For me it's a no brainer, the car breaks down I loose £200, by missing a days work, then have to spend another 2 half days taking it to and from a dealer and hiring replacement car, and have to pay dealer rates for the labour. If I plan the work and do it myself at the weekend, I loose no money and have the enjoyment of "fiddling under the bonnet" (quote from SWMBO) - the joys of being a contractor  Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Hi Andy, the water pump is driven by the toothed timming belt and not the grooved belt used to run power steering, alternator etc etc.
If you ever want to renew the pump its worth fiiting a new timing belt

Just what I was thinking. As water pump driven by cambelt, good idea change it too. Pump seizures with vaux's not uncommon. Esp the 1.9d's, snaps cambelt, then engine lost. When the time comes, I shall change them both on the landy. Another 6 years to go yet :lol:Just to be on the safe side  Landy has now gone.

Had mine changed at 150,000 £600 inc Service

Just booked my 2007 FL2 Auto into an independant LR specialist for service,timing belt and gearbox oil and filter change. 141000 on the clock so getting the belt done a little earlier but dont want to leave it until it hits 150000 just for peace of mind. Hopefully the pocket pain wont be too bad
