Differential failure

Had the diff on my 2.2 diesel automatic replaced at 75000 km due to bearing noise. Now at 83000 km the noise is back. Is this just a poor replacement unit or could something elese be causing the bearings to become noisy?
With so many high cost failures I must consider the future of this vehicle

wow... it sounds like you got the "low level fix" with just the input bearing change... I say just, but its a good 5 hour job to do it from what I understand..

Do you still have warranty on the bearing they put in?? its a bit fiddly with the compression collars etc, maybe it wasnt done properly?

Mine failed twice too

The garage and LRCS told me they had replaced the diff but when it went again they swayed towards we did a rework the first time round

Bloody annoying and to be honest lost a bit of faith in the dealership now

When I inspected the replacement unit installed, it did not look new. I did not press the issue BUT now I will. It is still under warrentee

I had a similar scenario. Diff nose bearing replaced then a year later started to get the same noises again. No fault found but rear tyres had odd wear with alternate tread blocks more/less worn round the tyre. Dealer swapped tyres front o back at first, then (very conveneiently) a puncture was found in one so ended up with 2 new rear tyres and problem fixed. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red
