Hell, if my partner/wife did the same then I'd call her that myself and tell her to put her thinking cap on and be responsible for her actions. It's one thing to leave your car at risk but to put your child in a situation defies belief.

There's nothing like censorship to bring about an argument so as said, its best to move on if its not a personal attack on yourself. That good advice has been given to me a few times as I'm quite quick in taking offence.

I am not trying to flame thread, I am trying to get some manners and perspective. We live in 2012, this is not political-correctness. This is politeness and manners.

Politeness and manners you say.

So how would you describe the stupid b Censored h who put her childs life in danger Question
I for one would never leave my car engine running whilst I popped out to deliver something, and that's without a child in the car. What she did was careless and stupid, and in my opinion not a fit mother Exclamation ______________________

Anyone who leaves their car running while unattended is asking for it to be taken, how many times has this happened and yet people still do it, every year, tens, if not hundreds of cars disappear on frosty mornings as the owner goes back inside to keep warm.

I am glad the child is safely reunited with its mother and I hope the authorities throw the book at her for leaving the vehicle and child unattended, unfortunately the soft arsed CPS will probably see it differently and decide not to prosecute as she was a "victim".

Glad to hear the kid's fine and, secondly, the car has been returned with no damage.

However, if I was the father I'd be giving the mother a serious dressing down. And if they were separated, pushing for custody!! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

It's a good time to remind us that thieving b Censored s are looking for easy pickings where our cars are concerned.
With the advances in standard car security (even LR Whistle ) scum are looking to get hold of your keys, or even better get the car with the engine running on a cold morning.
Most cars are now targetted and stolen from a driveway, and the thieves know the majority of us will leave our car keys on a hall table or key hook very close to our front door overnight.
They will get through the front door and nick the keys before you are awake enough to realise what the noise downstairs was.
Don't make it easy for them, leave your car keys somewhere less obvious. Thumbs Up _________________

My Keys come up to bed with me every night, and reside in the drawer of the bedside cabinet. Having spent several years in South Africa, this now comes as second nature, and is a habit I am glad that I still have! Foraging near Gaydon....

My keys hang on a hook near the door but out of sight through the window, Id rather they got found there than have a rude awakening during the night, that what insurance is for.
I have no near neighbours so there is nobody but me to come to my rescue should the worst happen. This also makes me prime candidate for such a night time visit Confused

As for leaving a child in a running car,I guess she was having a fraught day and the kid was asleep, turning the engine of might have woken the little one up and she needed to get some tea from the shop. Shame that you cant risk such a thing but you cant even in friendly rural areas, scrotes seem to have a radar for such things and seemingly appear at the right/wrong times.

When our kids were small I got nervous simply leaving them locked in the car whilst I paid for fuel, hurray for pay at the pump.
I cant use pay at the pump to fully refuel the RRS as it clicks off at 」100 credit limit, last fill was 」118 Shocked , dead empty to bang full mind you. At work

Hi George

I think you are actually less likely to be targetted, as you are lucky enough to live in a rural location, and these scrotes search for their target cars mostly on decent housing estates close to A roads or motorway routes. This gives them fast access to major roads if they are disturbed.

Also, it's a well known fact that to be a farmer you need a permanently loaded shotgun and a couple of vicious dogs ! Laughing

Farmers have their own particular problem at the moment - Red diesel and scrap metal thefts by pikeys. _________________

I was sat in my car in a car park a couple of months back waiting for Mrs. B. to reappear from shops and was shocked to see a woman pull up outside Blockbusters, leave the car with the engine running and go in to return some DVDs. She had a couple of young children in the back.

I nearly fell out of my seat when a couple of minutes later another woman pulled up and did exactly the same!

This was in one of the poorer areas of a nearby city so not sure if that had anything to do with it. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

As my Dad would say, they are fully paid up members of the It'll Never Happen To Me Brigade

If you were to tell such people of the risks involved, they would possibly laugh in your face and declare that it happens to other people but not them. Although I would not wish it on the lady it happened to in the news story, she did get a comeuppance for being so stupid and the Yobo duly laughed in her face to add insult to injury.
